This is an interesting tour of how the London Underground developed, and how it in turn caused London to develop and expand. It details the rivalries between the companies that originally owned the individual lines, and the key players who made the system what it became. The history and the architecture of the system fascinates me.

CarolynM Stacked. I love the London Underground. I once did a tour that covered a lot of the history and pointed out some remnants of it like ghost stations - fascinating! 2mo

TheEllieMo @CarolynM there‘s a programme called Secrets of the London Underground on the Yesterday channel (available on UKTV Play https://uktvplay.co.uk/shows/secrets-of-the-london-underground/watch-online) that shows the old stations and tunnels. It‘s fascinating and I‘m absolutely addicted to it🤣 2mo
CarolynM Ooo! Thank you, I will look that up 🙂 2mo

Utterly fascinating look at the spaces, natural & man-made, beneath our feet & the enduring connection humanity has to them. Yes there are chapters on the NYC subway & the catacombs beneath Paris but there are also chapters on intraterrestrials & the astrobiologists studying them for clues about possible life on other planets, burrowers in Cappadocia & explorers pushing farther and farther into the depths. I honestly couldn‘t put it down.

Thinking of all the people affected by the Canadian fires. I will never complain about the haboobs that hit AZ during monsoon season again. 💙💚💙

JamieArc I‘m not sure what haboobs are but I‘m sure you can definitely empathize with Arizona having it‘s own share of fires. 10mo
fredamans Also my choice! 10mo
fredamans And I live in Southern Ontario where we are affected by the smoke. I live outside Toronto and they want us to stay inside as much as possible because the particular matter could harm us. It is so hazy here we can't see far at all. 10mo

SamAnne We‘ve had to deal with so many smoky summmers in Eastern WA state. We are doing well right now. Sorry you are all dealing with the bad air. 10mo
dabbe @JamieArc I just posted on the haboobs. They're like Dust-Bowl-proportion dust storms. We had one that engulfed the entire city of Phoenix back in 2011. My mom died from it 2 days later due to her COPD/emphysema. 💙 10mo

Wow I didn‘t expect to like this book as much as I did. Loved the plot and “side stories”, interesting ending, and a great mix of light humor and darker topics throughout

TheLudicReader I read this book a few months ago and absolutely loved it. So glad to see someone else has read and enjoyed it. 12mo
Nalbuque @TheLudicReader this was actually a free book with an audible membership (they convinced me to go back for a dif free book *sigh*)… and honestly, I can‘t wait to read more of him! 12mo
Reggie I felt so stupid in the end of this book. He tells you in the very beginning not to trust him and then I forgot. Lol, I loved this book and his other books are great. Not many people have 1 great vampire book and this guy has 2. 12mo
Nalbuque @Reggie oh yeah!! What do you rec reading next from him? 12mo
Reggie The Suicide Motor Club, Between Two Fires, and Across the River are all good. 12mo
