This one was long.A lot of it actually put me to sleep. The exciting parts could have been done in 300 pages. It is not one of my favorite series, but it was a chunkster challenge met.It fulfilled #SeriesLove @Andrew65 being #2 in series Also,#ISpyBingoJanuary with Waves, persons back kind of, and Fog or Mist, perhaps even and Oval shape with the Satelite Dish? Which is confusing as to why that is on the cover is beyond me. @Clwojick @TheSpineView

TheSpineView I read this series years ago. I remember feeling the same way. Great job for sticking with it. 1y
Andrew65 Well done, especially on finishing it. 🥳 1y

I just finished another Mini Chunkster. This one was 745 pages. Almost made the super chunkster, although there were some parts of this book that could have been taken out. My review will be posted later with other challenges dealing with this book. #ChunksterChallenge @Amiable

Pickpick

Even though this book was long it still kept me engaged. It had Mysticism, Elves, Dwarves, and men. Oh and Trolls. The genre is High Fantasy with Sword and Sorcery. #HaveNoShameReadathon22 @Nessavamusic I was looking for more Sword fights.

curiouserandcurioser @LiseWorks Absolutely love this series!! I have reread it many, many times:) 2y

The original Shannara trilogy is almost as endearing to me as the original Dragonlance trilogy and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The Sword of Shannara is a blatant copycat of LOTR but I still love it!
I'll be rereading them soon, but I have a question for the Littens community. If you read a trilogy contained in a single volume (like the one in the picture), do you count that as one read, or do you count all three books separately?!?

This whole series was pretty meh. It was good enough that I didn't think it deserved to be bailed on, but found it difficult to get motivated enough to read it for more than one or two chapters at a time. I was often frustrated by the characters, who would regularly do stupid things without much reason to do so. Even the "smart" characters often did things that made no sense and lacked foresight. Unclear how this became a "best seller".

A qualified pick...I only checked this out from the library for the Landover short stories (and skipped all the rest). It was Landover I fell in love with as a teen and Landover I wanted to revisit. The two short stories in here featuring a G‘home Gnomes adventure spin on The Trouble With Tribbles and a Mistaya adventure with Strabo were wonderfully done, it was a great world to revisit on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

TK-421 I love Landover! 💖 3y
JazzFeathers Landover. I haven't heared this name for decades! 3y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @TK-421 @JazzFeathers I keep hoping he‘ll revisit this world again. But it‘s been years since 3y

I admire Terry Brooks but this story obviously did not consider the actual survival rate of Leukemia and made cancer recovery magical and inspirational. I know this probably was written in an era when inspiration stories were not seen as ableist, but that doesn't change the fact that one cannot “positive thought“ cancer away. One cannot slay the dragon of cancer without proper treatment. It was indeed a strange story.

I been reading more fantasy to help inspire me as I write my own. This one is a short story. Strange so far.

Good book, but I found it a little slow.
A constant jump from exciting adventures to somewhat boring situations and in my opinion there are too much descriptions that slow down the story.
Not bad but not too good either.

I‘ll see the best chapters, hoping they will be a little better #shannara #theswordofshannara #terrybrooks
