I've got nothing that #BeginsWith #Sugar except the odd recipe like these Swedish biscuits/cookies where sugar is both the first and last ingredient.

If I was going to visit Norway though books, I had to read a #NordicNoir. This was an introduction to Konrad Sejer and his partner on the case, Jacob Skarre. A teenage girl is found dead in this small Norwegian town, where everyone knew the deceased. Sejer is the seasoned police veteran who knows what questions to ask and how to use the information he's given to both solve the crime and determine the motivations behind the actions. The plot ⬇️

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick kept me guessing because I thought I figured it out, but I was wrong. Alhough the town could have been anywhere, the author painted a picture of the small town in the shadow of a mountain and how all of these people's lives intersected with Annie. I could see myself picking up another in the series. The cops were likeable and the case was interesting.

Reading this book was like reading a PBS special. I could hear the soothing voiceover of a narrator the entire time haha Going season by season the authors visit different homes in Norway, discussing architecture, history, hobbies, and ways of life. I'm not sure how much this book reflects the majority of Norwegians' lives as it seemed to focus a lot on the artsy types, but the photography was gorgeous & it was all & all an enjoyable #FoodandLit⬇️

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) read. I'm fascinated by life so close to the Arctic Circle in terms of daylight & weather & loved reading how the people who live here embrace winter & the long hours of darkness. @Butterfinger @Texreader 8mo
Texreader The one time I was there in the winter I realized I was sleepy all the time. I learned I‘m really regulated by the sun! 8mo
AnneCecilie @Texreader You get used to the dark, and the long days for that matter. It happens gradually through the seasons. Even if I must confess that I‘m happy that I don‘t live above the polar circle. 8mo

Texreader @AnneCecilie The long days are just lovely. Until recently I had chronic insomnia so it was nice to sit in the blue light past midnight. 8mo
TheAromaofBooks @Texreader @AnneCecilie - I just don't know how I would do with such short days - I feel like I'm very solar-powered!! My brother was in Alaska for two weeks in the summer when it's daylight 24hrs & said it was very peculiar to basically just live by the clock because the position of the sun didn't tell you much!! 8mo
Chrissyreadit That looks like a really fun book! 8mo
TheAromaofBooks @Chrissyreadit - I really enjoyed it even though it wasn't exactly what I was expecting. And the photography was lovely. 8mo

Today's book haul!! I went to all the Little Free Libraries in my town and exchanged 4 books. This is what I got.

I had so much fun and enjoyed the beautiful weather!

I am most excited for the book The Andalucian Friend. The cover is stunning and the back blurbs sound so intriguing.

Mehso-so

I finished my first book for #ProgressItNovember, the fourth in the Inspector Sejer series set in Norway. I didn't like it as much as her earlier books, probably because I was expecting a murder mystery and this one is more of a psychological thriller. It definitely succeeded as a thriller -- scary and disturbing!
