The blog I got this recipe from says it‘s a Greenlandic recipe, but didn‘t provide a whole lot of further detail. I overcooked the fish (maybe because it was also was without its skin…sorry), but the sauce and vegetables were so good. I‘ll definitely be making it again.

pickIt's bizarre books like this that make me want to live in Sweden (or anywhere in Scandinavia). I would love to see if the off-the-wall perspectives in Scandinavian fiction are universal within the culture, if they'd be accessible to an ex-pat, and if they would make up for the climate being as near the opposite as possible to the weather in San Diego (which has, unfortunately, become my baseline). This book is delightfully weird.

pickThis was much more violent than the usual cozy mysteries we read for our work book club, but it wasn‘t bad. It‘s frigid here this weekend so good timing for reading about Greenland.

I made pyttipanna (or pyttipannu) using the Moomins cookbook 😁: it's fish, potatoes and onions fried together, and served with beetroot, gherkins and a fried egg. Easy comfort food!
