Well… what a long, arduous journey this has been. But like all difficult journeys there have been moments of great beauty, opportunities for philosophical insight, smiles, laughter, and discovery. Regardless of Shogun‘s myriad problems (from a 21st century stand point as well as from a writers) it has this ability to sweep you up and make you overlook its inadequacies like all the best epics do. Great story. Good characters. Just OK execution.

Some options from my categories picked from two lists for #bookspin and #doublespin : books purchased from a particular local library branch and a local resale charity shop, books bought from a particular local indie bookstore, a Europa Editions book, and Andrew Durbin's Skyland.

Ruthiella I loved that Tom Wolfe when I read it back in the ‘90s. I loved the movie too. 3mo

I can‘t come up with just one book of the year! I don‘t know how anyone can do it LOL they were all so good!

I read 417 books … here are 64 … I feel like such a failure … yes 64 of the best! I might be able to get it down to 50 … ugh 50? Oh well! These are all excellent books.

♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

wanderinglynn You feel like a failure for having read 417 books & listing 64 you loved? That sounds like the opposite of failure. It sounds pretty freakin‘ awesome to me! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎉 3mo
Reggie You are a reading rockstar!!!! Happy New Year! 3mo
Twainy @wanderinglynn everyone is asking what‘s your favorite book of 2023? I can‘t pick just one. I read a lot & a lot of genres so maybe that‘s why I‘m not able to choose. 😁🤗 (edited) 3mo

Dene own voices' story of choosing the path of generosity and healing over violence and greed. I will never get tired of stories that take the harder, more hopeful path.

Absolutely loving this series. This volume is one story broken into 7 parts. It's an all out war when one of the lords is building a weapon cache to take over his enemies. So not only does Usagi fight him but joins forces with the ninjas and his two other friends. Very sad at the end but losses are to be expected when fighting to save someone's life is involved.

Lots of action in this volume. Usagi of course meets foes on his journeys but it's sad because he little dinosaur friend moves on and now Usagi is alone again. Wonderful graphics and great stories. Loved the TMNT/Usagi mash up story at the end.

Fun and great manga artwork. Great mix of humour and action. Really liking the dynamics between Kenshin and Karou.
