This was just okay for me. It was an engaging beach read but not one of my favorites for this year!

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

A soft pick for me, and a pick only because the last third of the book finally made me go “ohhh, okay girl I‘m with you now!”

I‘m not a big fan of tropes that rely so fully on shallow characters and/or on toxic females and friendships, but I did enjoy the setting (that yacht life seems doable, yes please!) Once the story got underway at last, I at least wanted to know how it all wrapped up and kept me reading. Not great, but not bad!

This sultry beach read is next on my list. It's just starting to get warm here so it's perfect timing. Will update when I know if it's as enticing as the cover implies!

The yacht trip from hell but yes I would go if invited! Belle‘s “friend” asks her to go on her old boyfriends yacht for her birthday..no one needs a friend like Summer. Good tension and activity throughout this read. Another great summer read.

Lately I feel like I‘ve been let down by highly anticipated books, and surprised by books that weren‘t really on my radar, but filler between the anticipated ones. This one was a surprise! The cover looks like a quick light hearted beach read…but it‘s actually a great mystery with a few little twists at the end! I really enjoyed this one ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

2.75 The subject matter is very interesting, but unfortunately not the delivery.

Chrystia Freeland throws a lot of names, a lot of anecdotes, covers a wide range of subjects and it makes the book quite chaotic... I would have loved a more organized book, perhaps one that would go deeper on some subjects: for example, deeper on the political and systemic mechanisms supporting the plutocrats, why not a more in-depth look at governmental corruption.

This is St. John‘s debut & I really enjoyed it! I‘d previously read The Siren & loved it. This is perfect escapism! For some reason I‘ve always enjoyed reading about the Uber rich lol. Belle was a real character you could root for. This book takes the term frenemy to a whole new level. If you‘re looking for something fun with some darker undertones then this is for you! I‘m eager for the author‘s next book!

This was a very entertaining mystery thriller with a dash of romance. Therefore I consider it #BookClubWorthy #Fall #Booked2020 @Cinfhen @BarbaraTheBibliophage @4thhouseontheleft
