Here is my list of August #TBR, not being too ambitious this month. This list includes an Amazon best of 2018 pick, a book for the #3KingsBuddyRead, and one of the #classics that @ErinSueG and I have challenged ourselves to #requiredreadingredo. #augusttbr #readingresolutions #augustisatrip @vkois88 @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

vkois88 Jealous you have I'll Be Gone In The Dark! I'm still about 3 months out on the waiting list lol... one of these days if I get a really good coupon, I may just go buy it instead. 6y
TheWordJar Fantastic list!! ❤️ 6y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I really enjoyed Bird Box!! 😱😱 6y

WhiskeyMistress @vkois88 it was on Amazon for $15 and I couldn‘t say no... the hold list is crazy for it and I‘m an impatient girl 🙈 6y
LazyDays I liked Duma Key a lot! 6y
vkois88 Noooooooo I missed it! 😭 6y
WhiskeyMistress @vkois88 are you sure? It‘s still popping up with my prime! 6y
vkois88 Oooh... I'll look again! I have about 10 browsers open looking at a billion things, since the Fall swap matches went out lol 6y
WhiskeyMistress @LazyDays I also liked Duma Key! it will be a reread for me, @ErinSueG and I have been buddy reading through some of Kings best work. 6y
LazyDays @WhiskeyMistress That's wonderful! I'm fan of King, not all of his stuff but most of it😊 6y
Erinsuereads @LazyDays yes! It‘s been so fun! First we did ‘Salem‘s lot. Then Lisey‘s Story. Next is Duma Key and then I think the stand or the shining. We shall see what @WhiskeyMistress comes up with. (edited) 6y

Today‘s #readingresolutions prompt was #waves, which made me think of this quote, the last line of Gatsby, which I read this month for the #requiredreadingredo which was hosted by @ErinSueG and I. #gatsby #classic #lit #quotsy @Jess7

Erinsuereads Excellent quote choice 6y

"War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength."
George Orwell, 1984.
Day 10 of #requiredreadingredo. The one #RequiredReading that everyone should read. This was not my RR but my daughter's (I read it years later) and we both loved it & couldn't recommend it enough. It's written all those years ago yet it's scary to see that this story is still relevant today. #readinglife #penguinbooks#PenguinEnglishLibrary #bookspine

Sorry I'm late on this😅🙈 here's my Day 9 for #RequiredReadingRedo I've never really needed to sneak books, but I did it once in primary school, read it under my desk in the drawer. And I was doing such a poor job that I got caught by the teacher🤣 Lucky she wasn't mad at all & recommended another book by the same author to me :) Forever grateful to her for turning me into a bookworm 🤗💖 #bookworm #readinglife @ErinSueG @WhiskeyMistress

#requiredreadingredo I can‘t pick just one. It‘s taken me the entire day. It past midnight and I still can‘t decide. I think there are many required readings that every one should read. Let‘s be honest, that‘s why they are required. Because they ask the hard questions, show us either the side of life we know, or the side we don‘t. And most of all they help us learn. I chose to tag what I did because it was required poetry for me... continued...

WhiskeyMistress ...and because it was something that changed my life. That made me start writing, made me start thinking, in a whole new way. And maybe it wouldn‘t for you. Maybe it‘s only magic for me. But the beauty of reading is we all have that magic button inside, that a certain thing presses. T.S. Eliot did it for me, someone else does it for you, and the awesome thing is we can share that with each other, share the magic. Share the love. #longsappypost 6y
mabell Great thoughts! You sum it all up so well! ❤️ 6y
Ddzmini F. Scott Fitzgerald and C. G. Jung has in recent years been a that awe inspiring and powerful influence in my reading world 😋📖 6y

#RequiredReadingRedo
Day 10: What is the one RR the world needs to read?
I chose this because it‘s important. This was one of my first introductions to civil rights. I was raised in a wonderful home where we were taught to treat everyone as our neighbor and to treat them better than ourselves. Not everyone was so fortunate. This book led me to authors like Ernest Gaines, James Baldwin, Toni Morrison, etc. What we forget, we are doomed to repeat.

JHSiess It led me to a career as a civil rights atty. 🧡 6y
AshleyHoss820 @JHSiess Oh, I love that!! 6y
BooknerdsLife Totally agree! 💕 6y

This is such a hard question to answer! I can think of so many great answers: To Kill A Mockingbird, Of Mice and Men, Diary of Anne Frank, Shakespeare, Native Son are a few that pop to mind. But the tagged book truly changed my life. And that‘s what I think required reading should do-change you in some way and make you think.♥️♥️ #requiredreadingredo #day10

#requiredreadingredo

WhiskeyMistress I am having the same issue! I haven‘t posted yet today because I can‘t pick!! 6y
ElishaLovesBooks @WhiskeyMistress That‘s why I added a few titles in my answer! I‘m sneaky like that😂😂 6y
JamieArc This is the book that came to mind when I saw this question. Definitely a perfect choice. 6y
ElishaLovesBooks @JamieArc Thank you! ♥️ 6y

I know I‘m so late posting this! This week has been so crazy with appointments for the kids and errands. Finally found a quiet minute! Anyway, I used to hide in the bathroom and read, especially when there were chores to be done! I could spend a long time in there with a book! 😂😁 I used to love Sweet Valley High books- I‘m sure I was reading some of them! #requiredreadingredo #day9

Erinsuereads No worries!! I never read any of the sweet valley high books but I see them pop up on here ALL the time!! 6y
ElishaLovesBooks @ErinSueG I loved them!! I remember buying the first one at a school book fair! My mom convinced me- she probably regretted it after realizing it was a long series and I was constantly asking her to buy them for me!☺️ 6y
