I am always going to love this worldbuilding. And Alexia and Lord Maccon, of course. #reread #steampunk #urbanfantasy

True to my word here are the Litsyversary picks that have arrived! Recommendations from @Liz_M @ravenlee @shortsarahrose @Billypar
I have a further 2 books on order from @KateReadsYA and @BookHoarder32 (not arrived yet...)
Thanks to everyone else who commented too!
I've not even heard of these books so no idea what to expect 💕
I came for the alternate Victorian era/Steampunk-inflected alternate history with a spunky protagonist, vampires, and werewolves, but stayed for the spicy but not too spicy sexual tension between soulless spinster Alexia and werewolf alpha/chief investigator Lord Macon, quirky side characters, and mysterious society that‘s kidnapping vampires! This was a lot of fun, and I‘ll definitely continue with this series at some point.
“Standing in the doorway was a backlit figure, clapping slowly but with evident approval.”
“With that, Lord Akeldama was carried from the room. The door was closed and bolted behind him. Miss Tarabotti, with nothing but her own thoughts for company, was left alone in the dark. She was particularly annoyed with herself; she had meant to ask about the brass octopuses appearing everywhere.”
“Lyall did not glance away from the latest vampire report he was perusing. ‘Grovel, my lord.‘”
April's Doublespin was another delightful romp in the Parasol Protectorate series.
I'm doing quite well this year, though I did use one of my two #vetos for April's #bookspin choice.

I‘ll play!
1. Alexia Tarrabotti from Soulless- she‘s practical, funny, and a force to be reckoned with. I found her when I was in my mid 20‘s and she was what I needed.
2. Sarah Bishop from the All Saints trilogy- I love those books, and Diana‘s Aunt Sarah feels more like a real woman than the two protagonists.
3. Sophie from Howl‘s Moving Castle- she‘s so real and so feisty! #wondrouswednesday
