Norwegian Wood. Tokyo Blues | Murakami Haruki,

3.6/5 🌟

A book about loss, grief, mental health & flawed human beings. Suicide features heavily in this book so it's not a happy, fun book. I didn't love the ending but I did enjoy reading the book.

A Wild Sheep Chase: A Novel | Haruki Murakami

Another Murakami which puzzled me and yet kept me engrossed in a weird little tale of a man with an ear fetish and his girlfriend with a magical ear traversing the mountains in Japan to look for a sheep with a star on its back that may or may not be controlling the world & a friend named the Rat, on the bidding of a right-wing political giant‘s secretary. It was a strange ride alright, but the vibes were pretty good

All throughout i didn't feel like I was really enjoying it, but I couldn't put it down either. One of those books that will probably stay with me for a long time.

A Wild Sheep Chase: A Novel | Haruki Murakami

A Wild Sheep Chase was my first Murakami listen. I had read Kafka On The Shore before and found that listening to Murakami was significantly better.

This book was quite hilarious. Some parts were a little ramble-y, as is Murakami‘s style. But overall, this book was very funny and entertaining.

The narrator, David, has done a fine job and brings the protagonist to life in all his disenchanted stupor. 😄

Bailedbailed

This is clearly an intelligent book with a great sense of unreality and sarcasm. I may come back to it, but I found the meandering mysteriousness a little tiring, and with over 9 hours still to go I‘m bailing for now…

My latest bookclub book. Weird, weird, weird. Didn‘t love it but didn‘t hate it. It‘s the second Murakami book I‘ve read and both didn‘t wow me. I won‘t be reading any more of his books. I feel something is lost in the translation maybe?
