Another audio listen for me. Not sure what my reaction to the print version would have been, but I absolutely adored the audio narration! Filled with bizarre actions and unlikable characters (especially first 2 sections/narrators), it had just the right amount of fantastical mixed in. #translated #litsy2017readingchallenge
Starting to realize I loved pretty much every book I read the past 2 years. Think I have my recommendation sources nailed!

Listened to this on audio & loved it so much more than expected. Thought it would be preachy but was actually a refreshing glimpse into one couple's hilarious attempt to immerse themselves into Danish culture. Now obsessed with the idea of Hygge, which in addition to family/surroundings, appears to focus heavily on food & drink. I have been decluttering for a month (& I hate cleaning!) #nonfiction #foodanddrink #hygge #litsy2017readingchallenge

Slight cheat on this - 11yrs, not 10. I went into this knowing these types of books play off fear & making mundane fantastical. That being said, I enjoyed it. I think it's true that many people around us have at least some traits associated with sociopathy - and that these traits may in fact lead to success for some (in competitive environments where empathy may actually hold you back.) #sadbuttrue #published10yearsago #litsy2017readingchallenge

I know this wasn't the intent of the #freezerworthyhorror category, but as a high school teacher this fits the bill for me. Even though it was difficult, I'm so glad I read this very well-researched book. So many misconceptions have been floating around in media for so long, it was good to hear more solid facts and not just panic fuelled rumours that inevitability masquerade as facts after a terrible event. #litsy2017readingchallenge #toughstuff

Catching up in the books I forgot to post along the way - been a busy year!
Loved listening to this on audio - my favourite format for memoirs in general, but especially this one. How he manages to balance the serious and the shenanigans so well I have no idea, but it is absolutely perfect. #setinAfrica (although I would get picky at say 'takes place in') #litsy2017readingchallenge

So many teary moments during this one. See so many of my husband's struggles, my struggles, and our struggles, boldly on display throughout this memoir. Amazing how experiences can be so similar and yet so different. This is a beautiful book - I encourage everyone to take the time to read it.

Wow. I've had this book for a long time but needed to wait for the hype to die down. Was terrified it couldn't live up to expectations, but it did not disappoint. I literally feel heavy now - I'm not likely to accomplish anything for the rest of the day beyond clutching it to my chest & having all the feels. Not going to give a single thing away - just read it. 💙💙💙

CuriousG I actually feel like this could also count as #freezerworthyhorror - stomach turning and terrifying to read about things that were routinely endured. I actually welcome the shame this makes me feel. Maybe if we all felt this a little more often we wouldn't keep repeating our mistakes and treating other people so terribly. 😟 7y

This is the book my 11 year old nephew wanted me to read so we could discuss it. I think it is fantastic for language development, lots of vocab middle graders would not already be familiar with. It is a battle/competition based plot so not great for very sensitive young people. That being said it certainly isn't any worse than the last 4 Harry Potter books. I'm planning on reading the next book in the series! #litsy2017readingchallenge #freespace

Read this memoir in verse hoping I can use with my students for their last high school English credit (aged 18-21). Many suffer from anxiety & am looking for that gem that will both interest & help them. Isn't perfect, but think it could make an interesting read for some of them. Worth reading for anyone, not just young people as it has some great insight into anxiety/panic disorders #litsy2017readingchallenge #authormyage #idontwanttobecrazy
