I‘ve really fallen behind on the prompts this week. It‘s just been so busy and chaotic here! I definitely cannot make up for all of them but I really wanted to do this one since I am so excited about this book that I purchased with my birthday gift card. This is one of my favorite topics to explore is history and historical fiction.

The Great Gatsby | Francis Scott Fitzgerald

I feel like whenever someone who has read The Great Gatsby mentions it, they have really strong feelings about it. They either love it or they hate it and there is no in between. How about you? If you‘ve read this book, how do you feel about it? #1920s #letsflyjuly @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @OriginalCyn620

Liatrek I was not a fan of this book. I really couldn‘t see what the hype was about I didn‘t like any of the characters. 5y
OriginalCyn620 This was my pick too for this prompt! I liked it! 😊❤️ 5y
Mrsann2000 Not a fan! 5y

wordslinger42 I really loved this when I first read it, but that was several years ago, so I'd be interested in re-reading it to see if I feel the same way! 5y
Billypar Love it 👍👀🌁🍸🚦🌻 5y
CaliforniaCay Hated it when I read it in highschool, re-read it after I watched the movie (the newer one) and loved it. The characters are horribly shallow but it is well written 👍🏾👍🏾 5y
Bookwormjillk I love it. In my top 5 for sure. 5y
abookishbutterfly @CaliforniaCay I definitely agree that they are extremely shallow! So many interesting things taking place in the book but really no one to root for! I love the newer movie, too. 5y
Palimpsest I read it in high school in the 90s and again before the 2013 movie release. I love it. I love the writing, but I did wonder what he saw in Daisy the second time around, yet I think that was part of the point. Gatsby‘s vision was mostly a beautiful dream. 5y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick It was required reading in high school and I remember that I liked it but I should give it a reread to see if I still enjoy it. 5y
Scochrane26 I read it twice in high school & want to re-read because I‘m not sure I would still like it now. 5y
Lizzybennetgirl The first time I read it I liked it and thought it was romantic. The second time I realized how delusional Gatsby and Daisy were. Then I thought it was really sad 😢. The entire premise of their romance (and the American dream) was based on something that wasn‘t even real. (edited) 5y
keepingupwiththepenguins Oh, I really did not like this book! I felt like I was the only one who found it disappointing - overwrought, creepy, grasping. Definitely not what its reputation held it up to be! 5y

I was so excited when I found this at a library book sale over a year ago! SO EXCITED! It had been a high priority wishlist book.

Now ask me if I‘ve read it yet. 😂

#france #letsflyjuly @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @OriginalCyn620

Ruthiella I like waiting to see if a wish-list book will come to me by luck via library sale or thrift store! It‘s actually more satisfying than online buying. 😀 5y
OriginalCyn620 I do the same thing! I get a book I‘m excited about then not read for months and months! 😂 5y
abookishbutterfly @Ruthiella It really is! I am more inclined to get the new wishlist books when someone else buys them as a gift for me, which is also pretty satisfying! Haha 5y
abookishbutterfly @OriginalCyn620 Glad to know I‘m not alone! 5y
BarbaraJean Same. And with the same book! (And many others...🤦🏻‍♀️) 5y

They say we shouldn‘t judge a book by its cover but the cover on this book is what compelled me to get it! I found it at a fill-a-bag library sale and from what I understand, it‘s supposed to be beautiful and inspirational. Has anyone read it?

OriginalCyn620 I haven‘t read it but that is a great cover! 🌼💚 5y

Wild Embers | Nikita Gill
post image

My favorite hobbies are reading, writing, and photography. When it comes to writing, I especially love to write poetry. I like to read it, too!

One of my current reads is the poetry collection Wild Embers by Nikita Gill. It‘s off to a nice start but I do think her book, Fierce Fairytales, will remain in the top slot when it comes to my favorite poetry books.

Do you like poetry?

#leisure #letsflyjuly @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @OriginalCyn620

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I LOVE photography!!!! I‘ve just started reading poetry 🖤 5y
OriginalCyn620 I am a writer too (YA) but I have to admit that I‘m a little dense when it comes to poetry! My daughter recommended 5y
abookishbutterfly @OriginalCyn620 I liked The Sun and Her Flowers. Her other book that @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks mentioned is good, too! (edited) 5y

The Three: A Novel | Sarah Lotz
post image

The Three doesn‘t involve just one #airplane crash, but four simultaneous crashes with a total of three survivors, all children! This book sounds so creepy and I am really looking forward to reading it but I was disappointed to discover it was number one in a series. I want this story to tie up all loose ends in one book!

Has anyone read this one?

#letsflyjuly @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @OriginalCyn620

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Sounds good!! 5y
OriginalCyn620 Sounds good! I‘m not much of a series girl though! ✈️ 5y
vivastory I've read this one & the second. Honestly I feel like you don't need to read the second book. The first one is fantastic & the second is a pretty big disappointment. 5y
abookishbutterfly @vivastory Good to know! Thanks! 5y

Saturday 13 July 1985, nearly two billion people woke up with one purpose. Nearly a third of humanity knew where they were going to be that day. Watching, listening to, attending: Live Aid.

Billed as the "global jukebox", the event was held simultaneously at Wembley Stadium in London, England (72,000 people) and John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (100,000).

The single most important #concert ever.

#LetsFlyJuly

OriginalCyn620 I remember watching it! 🎶🎶🎶 5y
TheEllieMo @OriginalCyn620 me too, really wish I‘d gone! But I was still at school and my parents would never have allowed me! 5y
