#quotsyjune19 @TK-421 “...without warning, he turned his head, looked five pews back across the aisle and directly into Eve‘s eyes. It was surprise that had her fighting not to jolt at that sudden and unexpected punch of power. It was will that kept her from blinking or shifting her #gaze. For one humming minute they stared at each other.” Roarke and Eve‘s first moment together.

vivastory What are your feelings on the upcoming HBO adaptation? 4mo
madamereadsalot1 @vivastory I'm interested. From the teaser it looks like it's going to try to shape it to feel current, which I think could be good. The comic is phenomenal in the story and in it's influence, and I think it has more it can give. I know a lot of folk didn't like the movie, but I liked it. So I don't think the TV show will disappoint me. You? 4mo
vivastory I'm really looking forward to it. I read the original, but none of the sequels or spin-offs, so I don't know how much will be from the original. I've heard that it's going to be an original take incorporating stories from all of them, which is pretty exciting. I think it definitely feels relevant now. I agree about the movie, too. I thought it was better than a lot of people gave it credit for. It was criticized for having several one dimensional 4mo
vivastory characters, but I feel like the same is true for the graphic novel. The strength of the story isn't really the characters (except for maybe Rorschach) but it's cultural & political commentary 4mo
madamereadsalot1 @vivastory same! I've only read the originals too. And definitely agree it isn't so much about the characters, it's about what they represent, or perhaps, what they DON'T represent. It was definitely cutting edge and out of the box for the time. It was, in my opinion, when comics took a turn for the better. Miller's Dark Knight Returns came out around then and it too made Batman darker and more "broken".... better. I prefer my heros conflicted. 4mo
