I haven't read many books about prison, so this one I read earlier this year was the first thing to come to mind. I figured I'd add a picture of my guy at the Johnny Cash Museum in Nashville to the lineup. No worries...I sprung him loose right after this photo was taken. 😉

My first thought for #FolsomPrisonBlues was The Green Mile, but @Eggs beat me to it. So I'm going with the second book that popped in my head.

About a year after Cash played & recorded in Folsom, he played & recorded at San Quentin . After a wild & wayward youth , Merle had ended up there and was in the audience during the show.That‘s when it occurred to Haggard there might be a better way to make a living!🎸

Although bank robber Jack Foley is imprisoned in Florida & not in California, this book came to mind. I read this one years ago. It was when a lot of Leonard's books were being adapted & I read it right before the Clooney/Lopez adaptation was released which I recall really enjoying. Although I haven't revisited the book, I loved it at the time & have since read several others. He's one of the best at writing snappy dialogue.
