The Forgotten Garden | Kate Morton
post image

#bookandameal is especially fantastic tonight. I've been looking forward to reading The Forgotten Garden forever (my first Kate Morton) and this authentic fettuccine (well actually strozzapretti) alfredo made in 10 minutes from three (yes three) basic ingredients (one is pasta!) that is legit restaurant quality delicious. It's a good night, y'all.

ScorpioBookDreams That looks amazing! Are you enjoying the book? 7y
Bklover Kate Morton's books have such pretty covers! 7y
DebinHawaii Yum! 😋🍴 7y

Laalaleighh @scorpiobookdreams I am so pulled into this story! Also the dinner was amazing! And soooooo cheap. I'll never pay a restaurant to make me plain alfredo again haha. 7y
Laalaleighh @Bklover I know 😻😻😻 I totally bought it for the cover at the buy 2 get 1 table at B&N like two years ago. I just needed a third book and it was so pretty! 7y
Laalaleighh @DebinHawaii haha thanks! high praise coming from you! It's from a cookbook called back pocket pasta that recently came out. Soooo many amazing recipes. This is just the simplest! 7y
ScorpioBookDreams @Laalaleighh the House at Riverton was the first Kate Morton book I read and I loved it. You should definitely add it to your TBR. 7y
Laalaleighh @ScorpioBookDreams thank you for the recommendation! Adding it now! 7y
ScorpioBookDreams I'm almost finished ACOMAF as I can't put it down. I'm half feral at this point as I've disengaged with the outside world. 😂😂 7y
Laalaleighh @scorpiobookdreams that's pretty much the only way to be when reading ACOMAF 😂 7y
ScorpioBookDreams @Laalaleighh Rhysand! 😍😍😍 I fully understand your love for him! 7y

#bookandameal (and a cat)

My boyfriend can cook, y'all. 😍

I'm not even sure what all was in this (carrots, leeks, orzo, dill, lemon zest, peas, shaved Parmesan, and garlic?) but it was SO good.

I didn't get very far in my #litsypartyofone last night but I'm hoping to rectify that tonight. Wish me luck!

BooksForEmpathy That sounds so interesting and delicious! It reminds me of the lemon orzo chicken soup I make! Lots of dill 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. (edited) 7y
hgrimes YUMMMMM! 7y
Sydsavvy That looks really yum 7y

My (very late) #BookAndaMeal tonight made by my wonderful bf. Seared Herb Salmon with Beet Risotto and Charred Lemon! I'm in love. (And spoiled, I know)

RadicalReader @Laalaleighh charred lemon sounds heavenly 7y
Laalaleighh @RadicalReader it is quite lovely! 7y
LauraBeth I eat salmon almost everyday (and will probably drop dead of mercury poisoning) 😀 7y

cariashley @LauraBeth haha I'd be poisoned too, I've sometimes had salmon for all 3 meals in a day! I thought the mercury content was really low compared to tuna or swordfish though?? Also, love the 🐱 photobomb in the back 😊 7y
LauraBeth @cariashley you're probably right - I've been too scared to google 🙀 @Laalaleighh your cat is like - I KNOW what you're eating! 🐟 7y
rubyslippersreads Your cat: "How could you?" ? 7y
Laalaleighh @LauraBeth I'm really picky about my salmon sources but it's supposed to be good for the skin and the brain so I eat it a lot too! @cariashley she had just been unceremoniously removed from my lap so I could eat, bc otherwise she would have tried to eat it for me. 7y
Laalaleighh @LauraBeth @rubyslippersreads they are like that every time we have fish. Like they're betrayed that we would eat the food of their people and not at least share 😂 7y

Pickpick

This book was incredible. It's been a while since I've read such an intricately woven, deeply imagined fantasy. Power, religion, religiosity, politics, history, myth, colonization, occupation, this one has it all. I almost feel the need to immediately start over again from the beginning. I will be acquiring the second book as soon as humanly possible. Oh, and these Szechuan Noodles the bf made for dinner made this one hell of a #BookAndaMeal ✨✨✨✨✨

Laalaleighh @JDHawkins @cariashley you guys were SO right about this one! 7y
RadicalReader @Laalaleighh this dish looks absolutely delicious 7y
Laalaleighh @RadicalReader it was fantastic!! And it's really easy to make! (Although some of the ingredients are hard to find in regular grocery stores) 7y

scripturient This looks so yummy! Great, now I'm hungry. 😜 7y
RadicalReader @Laalaleighh what is it and how do you make it? 7y
Laalaleighh @RadicalReader here's a link to the ingredients list https://www.plated.com/recipes/szechuan-lamb-noodles-with-bok-choy-2 the instructions are a bit long for a comment but basically you brown the meat, mix in the sauces and wine and vinegar, cook the noodles, sauté the ginger, garlic, bok Choy and sriracha powder in sesame oil, mix it all together and simmer a few minutes til sauce thickens and garnish with chives. (edited) 7y
Laalaleighh @scripturient it was great. A plated meal. We're obsessed with them haha. 7y
RadicalReader @Laalaleighh that sounds absolutely delicious sounds like a lo main 7y
Laalaleighh @RadicalReader pretty much, just more sesame oil and a slightly different flavor profile. Also, uses long life noodles which are hands down the best noodles out there. 7y
angrylilasian The book and those noodles look/sound so good! 😆 7y
Laalaleighh @angrylilasian they were both fantastic! The noodles especially though were a fave! (edited) 7y

Wanted to get in on this #BookAndAMeal thing. Nothing fancy here. This is our go-to late night lazy dinner. Pasta with Butter, cracked pepper, and parmigiana cheese. It's the simplest easiest most comfort foodiest dish there is. Maybe not as good as @DebinHawaii 's Avo toast, but definitely super simple and satisfying. Unlike this read. City of stairs is so complex and enthralling. If it was a meal it would be a seven course gourmet dinner. 📚🍲✨

DebinHawaii It looks pretty darn delicious to me! That's one of my favorite pasta dinners--so simple and so good! 😋🍴Yum! 7y
angrylilasian That sounds so good for a cold rainy night like tonight! 7y
BooksTeasAndBookishThings Your book is a perfect choice for the meal ❤ 7y

Laalaleighh @DebinHawaii I keep thinking about your avocado toast perfection. I really need to make it for myself. Our best friend who has family from Italy taught us to make this during one of our superhero tv show nights. I couldn't believe I went my whole life up to that point without knowing it existed! (edited) 7y
Laalaleighh @angrylilasian it's pretty fabulous and takes like 5 minutes to make! We eat it wayyyy more than we should Haha. 7y
Laalaleighh @BooksTeasAndBookishThings thank you! I liked the contrast! 7y
BooksTeasAndBookishThings Exactly! Besides, why cook a 5 course meal when you can use that time to read a 5 course book 😉 7y
ApoptyGina69 I eat pasta, butter, pepper, parm on a regular basis!! 7y
Laalaleighh @ApoptyGina69 it's the best isn't it? 7y
Laalaleighh @BooksTeasAndBookishThings exactly. The book part IS the most important part of the book and dinner concept after all, isn't it 😊 7y
BooksTeasAndBookishThings Yes 🙌📚❤ 7y
RadicalReader @Laalaleighh what's avo toast? 7y
RadicalReader @ApoptyGina69 best food ever pasta with butter spices and cheese so heavenly 7y
Laalaleighh @RadicalReader it's @DebinHawaii 'a specialty/obsession. It looks so good! 7y
