This is a great memoir. I feel such sadness for those of you out there who feel uncomfortable with presenting yourself as is. Some of the panels talked about not staying up for yourself because you didn't want to seem rude. Ugh! That speaks to me. Please all know #YouAreSafeWithMe and please #StandUp

This #bannedbook was lovely and meaningful. In this thoughtful graphic novel, the author explores the experiences of a kid who sees themself as different and is struggling with the labels others are putting on them. The boy scout camp setting offers the perfect backdrop and brought back memories of when my son was immersed in the Scout community, luckily his seemed more inclusive than most. #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks #bookriotchallenge

TheAromaofBooks Great progress!! 2mo
TieDyeDude I really enjoyed this book and the author's ability to give the main character depth without feeling the need to give them a definitive label. It is a shame that it is such a challenged book because it could be invaluable to certain young people. 2mo

Well Florida has finally lost it. It has banned over 1,600 books including several dictionaries. The reason for banning the dictionaries is because, they contain “Sexual Content”. The list of banned books is in the link below ⬇️ 📚📖

I swear, I did not stage this image or put TRANS-SISTER RADIO in this Little Free Library. I spotted it in Middlebury while walking Jesse, my beloved dog. This is one more reason why I love #Vermont: my most #bannedbook in a #littlefreelibrary .

marleed I love to see banned books in LFLs. It has to be a thrill to author a banned book yet see it out there in the wild awaiting a new reader! 4mo

The Whole Library Handbook: Teen Services | Heather Booth, Karen Jensen

Today‘s #bookhaul - the handbook is one of the books for my class on library services for teens (after a year long break because of surgery/Crohn‘s flare, I‘m finally getting back to my grad school program!), while the other is a #bannedbook that I‘ve been interested in

Not sure why this is a #BannedBook other that its exploration of a half-Latino young man coming out as gay. I‘d call this New Adult over YA.

Mike can seem to catch a break. He quits a job he loves (mowing lawns) because of an exploitative boss. But he struggles to find work after that, and he and his mom can barely make ends meet. Still, his story rings much more hopeful than sad. A great “be true to your dreams” novel.

willaful Doesn't take much these days. :-( 6mo
Christy2318 Someone I know went viral with her school board meeting rants & police report over this book which was in 11th grade classroom library. She was convinced that the fact that there was a recollection of a sexual experience between 2 young boys made it was pedophilia. But based on other things she said at school board events, race and sexual orientation of the main character were definitely factors. 6mo
Cinfhen First I love the term New Adult!!! And I agree….this book had no basis for being banned let alone one of the MOST challenged books of 2022!! What‘s wrong with people???? 6mo

BarbaraBB Book banning makes me feel as if we‘re traveling back in time 😱 And I love New Adult 💯🩷 6mo
Cinfhen BTW: I just picked up a new book by Evison - looks good 6mo
Reggie On my list of grey LGBT+ books I have read, this never even enters my mind. I liked this book but for it to be a banned book makes me crazy. 6mo
Megabooks @Reggie right. Very don‘t say gay because I think the larger themes are poverty and being true to yourself. The gay thing is virtually an afterthought. 6mo
Megabooks @Cinfhen interesting! I‘ve read a few and they‘ve all be #LikeNotLove! 6mo
Megabooks @Christy2318 ridiculous! I think sexual exploration among same age peers shouldn‘t be a taboo thing to write about. Especially since I felt Evison handled it well. 6mo
Megabooks @BarbaraBB right? Very scary! Yeah I‘ve heard New Adult for books aimed at/featuring the 17-22 set. A bit more adult themes explored but still aimed at a young audience. @Cinfhen (edited) 6mo
Megabooks @willaful so true. 😞 6mo

#BookReport

#52Books52Weeks #ByaComedian Listening to Leslie Jordan shares his stories was a bit bittersweet since his unexpected passing. And Lady Chatterley‘s Lover #BannedBook was ok, at least I can say I read it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Loved my other 3 books.
