Gentleman in Moscow | Amor Towles

Gentleman in Moscow is one my favorite books, from the last few years. I posted a few things on IG regarding the book, today the Metropol Hotel (setting of story) liked my posts but more importantly they are offering
The Gentleman in Moscow immersion tour.
I now have a new dream trip.

I enjoyed this book very much but found it slow in the beginning. History of Russia was interesting and I loved the count. He was held hostage in the Metropole Hotel and developed a friendly relationship with the staff and especially 8 year old Nina. I found Amor Towles writing to be as excellent as his other book, Rules of Civility. Looking forward to the next book by Towles.

Finished this book earlier than expected. Got towards the end and just had to read on. Loved the whole story and Towles‘ writing is excellent. He captured the era of the 30‘s in New York so well that you could hear the jazz music in your mind while reading. Characters were well-drawn and so believable. The plot really held my interest and moved along quickly. A very engaging read that should not be missed!

While reading this book, I came to the conclusion that this book needs to be a tv show!

“Walking into Penn Station earlier that evening, I had realized I had nothing to read; so at a newsstand I surveyed the paperback fare...and settled on an Agatha Christie...once on the train...I waded into Mrs. Christie‘s world and was pleasantly surprised by how diverting it was.”

Katey succumbs to the allure of the mystery novel.

kspenmoll @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks This book is wonderful! Intrigued by the seeming mystery surrounding Kate. But maybe she is just simply who she is as presented!?? 1y
