Pickpick

Written by Carole Lindstorm in 2020, We are Water Protectors is a great read for children to learn more about North American culture and the tragedy they faced during the Dakota Access Pipeline protests. This book won the Golden Kite, and the Caldecott award. Great read for children!

Pickpick

This book was published in 2020, and received the Golden Kite award. This is a book about a community that is being threatened by a “black snake“, which is used to represent a pipeline that is going to be built on their land. This is a great book to show the effects of pipelines on native land. I would definitely use this book in my classroom!
