Hi #secretsantakids! Our soon-to-be one year old could use some more excitement for this bookshelf! Mom and Dad are into board books because she‘s into ripping pages! We are missing some classics like #goodnightmoon and #wherethewildthingsare somehow!

kamoorephoto ‘Where the Wild Things Are‘ was my son‘s absolute favorite book... 2y

This was cute--a boy is looking for his dragon in different parts of the city, pointing out other things that he sees. Specific items are colored on each page along with interesting, thick-lined drawings. My son kept getting frustrated with the boy not seeing the dragon, and it made me think of every time I've been frustrated with a character for not realizing the obvious. 😂296 books! #wherethewildthingsare #90sInJuly #1000booksbeforekindergarten

Cinfhen Cute! And you're making progress- how many more days until kindergarten??? 2y
readinginthedark @Cinfhen Approximately 30 days! 🙄😆There's barely any chance we'll make it. I wish we would have known about the program before this summer! But I'm hoping we'll make it to 500, so he can get a book from the library, and then whenever we reach 1000, I'll take him to the bookstore and buy him another one myself. 😊 2y
Cinfhen I'm rooting for you💕such a fun idea😁 2y

Cinfhen Did you read this one? Sounds fascinating 2y
JacintaMCarter @Cinfhen No, I just googled "books about wild animals" and this was the one that sounded the most interesting. 2y
Cinfhen Haha! I've seen it on best lists before...I really do want to read it someday 😁 2y

#90sInJuly #day6 #WhereTheWildThingsAre There's a lot of Wild Things in May Gibbs world. Set in the Australian bush, Snugglepot and Cuddlepie are two gumnut babies, trying to find their way around their small world, making friends with Mr Lizard & Mrs Kookaburra & staying out of the clutches of the wild Banksia Men & the sly Mrs Snake. If you haven't read these, look them up. The drawings are so beautiful, every gumnut baby has a different flower.

Robothugs I'm going to have to look for these for my nieces and nephews! 2y
Lizpixie Definitely! Her drawings are so gorgeous, there's Wattle babies & Boronia babies & the so cute Flannel Flower babies. There's a collected works which has the all the stories inside. Her cottage is open to the public now with her garden that inspired her work. She's a national treasure here in Australia. @Robothugs (edited) 2y
JenP How cute is this book!?! Probably too young for my daughter but looks super cute 2y

Lizpixie @JenP how old is your daughter? I was about 8 when I read them and fell in love with not just the stories but the artwork as well. This is just a small hardback version for smaller kids. The real books are a lot bigger and full of stories. (edited) 2y
JenP @Lizpixie hmm, maybe then. she's almost 7 but an advanced reader. We read the first 3 Harry Potter books so now thinks she's "too big" for younger looking books. She's mad at me for making her stop before the next book ? 2y
Lizpixie I was an advanced reader too, by this age I was already reading Agatha Christie & Stephen king. It was the art I fell in love with @JenP 2y
JenP @Lizpixie thanks! I will try it with her. It does looks like a beautiful book 2y
LazyOwl I loved reading these books as a kid 2y

#90sinjuly #wherethewildthingsare

"All you children touch the sun
Burn your fingers one by one
Will this earth be good to you?
Keep you clean or stain through?"

What a great opportunity to feature one of my favourite graphic novel series! Sweet Tooth is seriously underrated.

@Cinfhen @Robothugs

Cinfhen Totally new to me title😉thanks for posting and sharing 2y
