Graywacke @Suet624 I‘ll be disappointed if Audition and Seascraper aren‘t on the shortlist. Flesh belongs too. But i‘ve liked literally every book. So i‘ll be forgiving @dabbe thanks! 6d
Hanna-B Flesh was a marvellous confronting read, a lot of feelings arose 5d
Graywacke @Hanna-B i was thinking about it (Flesh) constantly for days after i finished … trying to resolve stuff in my head. 5d
Hanna-B I inhaled it. And know it‘s going to stick with me. A stark tale, unflinching and pragmatic with so many losses 5d

MY DARKEST PRAYER. | S. A. Cosby
Pickpick

ACTION PACKED! Full of nefarious characters and explicit sex. S.A. Cosby‘s book allowed me to use adjectives I never have used before!

Nathan Waymaker,ex-marine & ex-cop, pulls out all his skills to solve the mysterious death of the town minister.

A genre of literature I‘m not used to-but liked this unusual book.

My #Roll100 picks for September. I intentionally chose SFF titles I‘ve been meaning to read for years and so far, they keep getting picked! 😅👍 Looking forward to The Goblin Emperor!

Cherry I got over a decade ago when I read The Liar‘s Club.

Handling Sin was a recommendation also for over a decade ago when I obsessively followed book blogs.

The las two are off my physical shelf, so bonus.

PuddleJumper I've got the Goblin Emperor as a possible October read 4w
Bookworm54 I loved the goblin emperor (I listened on audio). Enjoy! 4w
Ruthiella @PuddleJumper I have heard so many positive reviews about it! 4w
Ruthiella @Bookworm54 Great to know! I will definitely see if I can access the audio through my libraries. Plot heavy books often work really well for me on audio. 4w

I thoroughly enjoyed this ‘non fiction novel‘ set in the Georgian city of Savannah. It‘s the sort of place which has a hold in my imagination and I‘d love to see one day. Some vivid characters and entertaining moments. While there is a murder mystery the trial is a part of the events rather than a central theme. I admit the tail end of the book loosened its grip on me but overall a great read - unlike the drag of a movie which was made from this.

wildwoodreads This book captures the feel of Savannah really well. To this day it‘s one of my favorite places to visit. If you go you‘ve got to add Bonaventure Cemetery to your list. 1mo
danx @wildwoodreads One day hopefully! Will see how travel to the US looks after the current regime. 1mo
wildwoodreads @danx Fair enough. I hope you love it because it really is a beautiful place! 1mo

@Allyneedsbooks and I got to visit the BEST little bookstore in upstate New York. It‘s a mix of new and used books with some antiques thrown in, all under the roof of the most precious old house turned perfect bookstore setting. Hardwood floors, porch to sit on, completely beautiful surroundings for book wandering. It was EVERYTHING!

I guess if you want a glimpse into what it‘s like to be a rich white southern lady and a how-to for throwing dinner parties and minding your proper southern manners, maybe this is for you.

It‘s a very short audio and she does share some cute stories about her family, but I‘m definitely not aiming for this particular southern belle lifestyle. She is charming and funny though, and if you‘re a fan of her you might like this.

AmyG Ha….I was surprised to see YOU post this! 1mo
Tamra Ummmmm, formal anything is the last thing I‘d want to do. 😂 1mo
BiblioLitten The cover page reminds me of her character in Little Fires Everywhere 🙃 1mo
Soubhiville @AmyG this was another I chose because of my bookclub‘s “popular trash” topic… Because she‘s certainly popular, and I knew it was probably going to be fluffy and probably not something I‘d take seriously. 1mo

This turned out ok. It‘s a lot like The Town, a later Faulkner novel narrated by Charles McCaslin and Gavin Stephens. Personally i hated The Town. This is better. A simple story, with race-relations exploration. A mixed-race man is charged with a murder he didn‘t commit. Everyone is waiting for a lynching. But it‘s Faulkner, so wordy, thick, and slow, with some deep soul searching by the well-educated always wrong Gavin.

It anyone were to scroll down my thread, they will notice a post on my starting this 5 months ago. Well, it didn‘t take 5 months. I put it down, paused my Faulkner reading, and started again. I found it unexpected, going ways i did not anticipate. But exceptionally powerful. A rewarding if difficult book. It includes The Bear, a famous Faulkner short story that is novel-sized in the contents. That story does a lot. (But it‘s not my favorite part)

ShelleyBooksie Adorable doggo. 1mo
BarbaraBB Kudus for finishing it. 1mo
Graywacke @BarbaraBB it was worth it 1mo
