A Cappella: Mennonite Voices in Poetry | Ann Elizabeth Hostetler

Great instructions, unless you love books. 🙃

GingerAntics But my heart beats loudly for the books. Technically, if you count ebooks, they are light in my pocket when they‘re on my phone. 🤣😂🤣 2y
Ruthiella You just need one good sized pocket! 😆 2y
Graywacke How do you find so many wonderful poems? 2y
merelybookish @Graywacke I have lots of poems in my email that I've saved over the years. Also from a great site called A Year Of Being here. 2y

Smashingly good! Just as funny as Fool and now featuring a serpent in the canals of Venice.

How have I gone my entire life not realizing the family in the corduroy books was Black. The world has always needed more POC recognition in children‘s books, but maybe in my younger days I didn‘t pay attention the way I do now. I love the corduroy books. I may not be POC, but as a navy brat, I would have loved to see the places I lived and people I made friends with more represented.

TheBookHippie I love this 🤍I have all the corduroy books. It never even dawned on me ... 3y
LibrarianRyan @TheBookHippie I know right. If I wasn‘t reading an original copy from the library I might have thought it was changed later in life. Viola Davis wrote a new Corduroy book for the 50th anniversary. I thought it was weird at first but it makes so much sense now. I have it o. Hold. 3y
TheBookHippie @LibrarianRyan now I need to dig them out and look at them again ! 3y

ravenlee I kind of love that it wasn‘t something noticeable - it was an organic part of the story, rather than anything that called attention to itself. 3y
LibrarianRyan @ravenlee I agree. We need that normalized in children's books for all races. It was just a shock that I didn't remember it 3y
Elizabeth2 Oh my goodness, did my children love Corduroy! We read these book over and over again. We have a hardback of Corduroy and Other Stories that I have saved so I can read them to my grandchildren someday (should I be blessed with any). That book includes Flash the Dash and Dandelion, the Dandy Lion, too. It‘s a family favorite! (edited) 3y

This fanfic was pretty good, but the ending careened out of character to me. Then, I haven‘t finished the series yet so maybe it really isn‘t. I guess I like reading more about Cardassian society and intrigue which always makes things murkier and more serious. Not that this didn‘t have it‘s serious points. 3 out of 5 gold pressed latinum. #startrek #fanfic #cyoreadathon #DS9

tournevis Technically, it's profic, but the difference is minimal and Una is a great writter. I agree with you. 4y
TheBookDream @tournevis The comment wasn‘t about the titled Deep Space nine book but the fanfic on the pictured Nook. However, Una is a great writer and I look forward to getting into her DS9 novels after I watch more of the series. I hear she writes Cardassians really well. (edited) 4y

“Poetry is a life-cherishing force. For poems are not words, after all, but fires for the cold, ropes let down to the lost, something as necessary as bread in the pockets of the hungry.” #pocket #QuotsyApr20
