This is the newest book by the same author.

Noticing by Kobi Yamada was the perfect read in the quiet of the morning on the day after my father took his flight from this world. May we all take the time to “pause and allow for the extraordinary“ that this beautiful life offers!

tpixie So sorry for your loss. Hugs 🤗 I‘m glad you found some comfort in reading. 🩵 6d

This week‘s lineup in the #LFL featuring some for the kiddos in the neighbourhood and this week‘s homemade bookmarks. Are we missing anything? #haidagwaii #littlefreelibrary #mixedbag

LeahBergen It looks perfect to me! But you‘ll need more bookmarks, of course. 😄 2mo

This book would be a good read for students in first through fourth grade. It is an easy read and keeps students engaged. This could be used as a research topic or a person to look up to.

Mehso-so

The book follows the life of Ashima Shiraishi a rock climbing champion. It is told in first person - like Ashima is telling the story herself. It has very colorful illustrations that add details to the words. The book explains the thinking of the rock-climbing champion.

“And there, at the top of the problem, I looked down at the bolts of fabric, the dot of the question mark, the bend of the elbow, and I waved hello at the memory of how hard the problem was.“

The autobiography teaches the readers the lesson about continuing to try even if you think you cannot do it anymore. It is geared more towards younger readers as it has some great imaginative aspects to it the illustrations themselves are very big and bold which grabs their attention as well.

This biography picture book is about a girl named Ashima who is a rock climber. The book is written by Ashima herself and told in first person. The story follows her as a young girl and how she overcame some problems in terms of learning to rock climb. I think the first-person narrative and knowing that it is about the author herself, allows for readers to actually feel what she was feeling at different moments.
