If anyone ever needs a reminder of why the NHS is so brilliant. Read this! It made me laugh, it made me cry. A truly honest account of what it takes to be a nurse! #nurse #nhs #work #proud

I guess a pick? Like 4 stars? Perfectly capable sweet F/F fake marriage romance set in NY. Backstory is more interesting with one protagonist than with the other, story kinda drops that backstory at a key moment, but whatever, we know the true focus. I wish Litsy had five options and that so-so were pointing up, not down.

Lindy It‘s so tricky with rating systems, isn‘t it? I consider 3, 4 & 5 stars (out of 5) a pick on Litsy. 2 stars is so-so in my estimation. One star is a pan. 5mo
suzisteffen @Lindy ooooh THAT is interesting. Once I get into 3.5 territory, I feel like I‘m at the so-so level. I will think about your system! 5mo
Lindy @suzisteffen A five-star read for me is one that I love so much that I wouldn‘t hesitate to reread it. A four-star read is great, but once is enough. A three star is enjoyable in spite of some flaws, but not flawed enough to keep me from recommending it to others. That‘s why they are all “picks” for me on Litsy. 5mo

Scribd is good for random lesbian romances! This is a hate to love + fake marriage story, with health care professionals, set in NY. 👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩

Second in the Hope River series. I love these books so, so much. This stands alone but DO go back and read the first book! Becky and Isaac are trying to make ends meet in rural West Virginia during the Depression while Becky is also caretaker to Isaac. Not as much birth/midwifery in this one as the previous book, so broader appeal. Becky is slower to love than Patience, but she definitely gets there. Isaac is a GEM. I love every single character.

Chrissyreadit I love reading books relevant to where I live/lived- adding this now!!! How old are your big kids? This homeschool high school has me weepy with a Jr and Freshman. 10mo
intothehallofbooks @Chrissyreadit If you have ties to the WV area and like historical fiction, you may REALLY love these books. The history is so rich and the setting is vibrant! My (twin) girls are sophomores and my boy is technically 8th but he has moved onto a couple of freshman courses. So yes yes I TOTALLY share in the weepiness. 10mo

Florence Nightingale definitely had some sexist ideas about women as nurses so I won‘t share any of those. I wonder if this one was inspired by the Biblical parable about the mustard seed?

Nurses are some of my favorite people - my family has had a total of 5 now, I think. Well, at least in my lifetime. Before that? 🤷‍♀️
