I picked this up at a library sale last fall. Coming in at 1200 pages, it's definitely a #SuperChunkster. I'm going to try to finish it by the end of the year. @Amiable

Amiable Great! If you haven‘t already sent me an email, do so and I‘ll shut you the graphics you can post when you‘re done. 1y

Such a good ghost story! And it‘s super short so you can read it in just a few days. Or in one night … if you dare.

Last Stories | William Trevor
Pickpick

Sometimes I don't know what I feel. Sometimes my circumstances are so strange that I'm lost. I try to use more familiar contexts to give my thoughts some shape but they don't work. I've found something new. These are stories about those feelings. Ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances give these lives an almost Kafka-like surrealism. And the reader gets such a beautiful perspective. Notes of Sherwood Anderson and George Eliot on the finish

This is my favorite of his books based on his life growing up in Dublin. This tells the story of his mom pre-marriage and kids.

An Answer from Limbo | Brian Moore

2022: 001 - BRIAN MOORE - An Answer From Limbo (1962)

In NY, a wannabe writer selfishly focuses on his work at the cost of friends and family. Arguably too many viewpoints as it jumps about, but Moore definitely on form with his characters, notably the Irish mother. Enjoyed, didn‘t love.

“Home was a huge sky; it was flat fields of poor land fringed with hawthorn and alder. It was birds in flight; it was columns of midges like smoke in a summer dusk” Deirdre Madden
The first couple lines of this book just sucked me in and I cannot wait to read this lovely book.

I have never stepped foot on Irish shores. I would so love to go! A part of my family lives on Dingle Peninsula- I am sure photos do not do it justice. Two Irish authors whose books I love- both helping me to immerse myself in Irish stories.

wanderinglynn Dingle is awesome! 💚 It was one of my favorite parts of Ireland. 🍀 3y
Ncostell I‘ve only been to Dublin but would love to go back and see more of the country. Hope you can travel there someday! Happy St. Patrick‘s Day! 🍀 3y
AlaMich I‘ve been to the Dingle Peninsula! I rented a bike and I actually got a mild sunburn, something I thought was impossible in Ireland! 🤣☘️ 3y
