Hello! Looks like being indecisive about adding this to my library has paid off since it‘s half price at Dymocks right now!

A slow start, but ultimately worth it in my opinion. Very different from what I‘m used to, and look forward to what my book group thinks. Also, #doublespin and finished my February #wickedwords with candlestick.

Bailedbailed

This maybe an unpopular opinion; however, I just couldn't make myself finish. Bailing at 35% read. I didn't care about the MC and the plot didn't get my attention. The whole thing felt like a slog. #HailTheBail #Read2025 @DieAReader
I was reading for #AuthorAMonth @Soubhiville challenge and was excited since I enjoyed Bardugo's other books. On to better things!

TheSpineView @DieAReader Amen to better books! 2mo
Gissy I haven‘t post my review yet but I didn‘t like it. It was so different of Bardugo‘s previous novels, it was not like her writing style at all. 2mo

This audiobook was more background noise for me, while I was doing this and that. The story got more interesting after the 50% mark, so the plot maybe just needed some time to speed up. I for myself would've loved to spend more time with the female characters, because to me they seemed more interesting than Eisenhorn. I'm still curious about what's going to happen to him next.

I loved this book. Totally not a typical read for me but it was fun and entertaining and a great story.

I liked it. It's not my favorite of hers since it took me a while to get into the story. Luzia was an unexpected main character. She never acted like I assumed she would.

Also, I have questions about the ending, which I'll throw under a spoiler below.

#authoramonth @Soubhiville

Zuhkeeyah If the scorpion is turning to ash every dawn, then he's still attached to Paredes. Does the man not know he was still alive? If their lives are still tethered, wouldn't Paredes still have his luck? If not, how exactly was it broken? 3mo

vlwelser @TheBookHippie I feel like this is a must read for you. The MC is hiding her Judaism during the Spanish Inquisition and I think she's a real person. 3mo
TheBookHippie @vlwelser she is, it‘s why I bought the book. 🙃 3mo

I just started listening to The Familiar today. Please tell me it gets better. I am not feeling this one at all. Reading it for #AuthorAMonth reading challenge. @Soubhiville

Deblovestoread I tried audio, too. I stored but wasn't sure if it was me or the book. 🤷‍♀️ 3mo
Melismatic I thought it was ok but it is a bit of a long walk. 3mo
