I haven‘t read this, but it has been on my tbr for so long. In my profession I see clearly, that “#EverybodysHappyNowadays” is no where near the truth. People got issues, trauma, thoughts and emotions they don‘t know how to deal with, and from what I have heard, that‘s exactly what Winterson deals with in this memoir

#RedRoseSeptember

arlenefinnigan I love this book! 5y
quirkyreader This was a great book. 5y
Cinfhen On my TBR too!! It was a recent #KindleDeal that I couldn‘t pass up 5y
Kalalalatja @arlenefinnigan @quirkyreader now I‘m even more eager to read it! @Cinfhen I still need to buy/borrow it, but I think it has to be soon! 5y
ephemeralwaltz I'm going to hear her talk next month! Yay! 5y

I really think this was my favorite Little House Book growing up. I think I was 9 or 10 when I first read it & I thought Laura was so grown up at 15. 😉 I don‘t remember if I thought that #EverybodysHappyNowadays by the end of the book but Almanzo & Laura certainly were. 💕💖💕

Cinfhen I was never into these books, I feel like I missed out 😔 5y
DebinHawaii @Cinfhen They were my mom‘s favorites so they were a big part of my childhood. 🤗 5y
LeahBergen Oh, how I loved this series. I think my fave will always be 5y

I just finished watching the miniseries Fosse/Verdon and have the music stuck in my head, especially this song from Chicago. #everybodyshappynowadays Their dancing was definitely #somethingnew but I‘m not sure that falling for Fosse was such a good thing for Verdon. #fallingforyou #RedRoseSeptember #SoulSeptember #SelfImprovementSept #multitasking

arlenefinnigan Not someone I'm at all familiar with tbh! 5y
Eggs Love Verdon🥰 5y
Cinfhen Once again masterfully played 🙌🏻 5y

rubyslippersreads @arlenefinnigan He was an award-winning Broadway and film director/choreographer (Caberet, Chicago, etc,) and a notorious womanizer. She was an award-winning musical comedy dancer/singer (Damn Yankees, Chicago, etc.) They had a very tumultuous marriage and professional collaboration, which made the miniseries interesting but sometimes painful to watch. 5y
rubyslippersreads @Eggs Me too. 😊 5y

#RedRoseSeptember Day 4: With the birth of children‘s literature, clearly #EverybodysHappyNowadays. From Fats‘ review: “Unlike mums and dads in those days who thought that books would turn their children into wild beasts, John believed that children should have access to books.” Full review of this picturebook biography here: https://wp.me/pDlzr-hpD

Much ADO about Nothing | William Shakespeare

#RedRoseSeptember

(Day 4 - #EverybodysHappyNowadays)

*Yes, everybody‘s happy, esp. in Shakespeare‘s comedies, such as “Much Ado About Nothing.” Eavesdropping, fainting spells, and masked balls play havoc for our principals in Messina. They meet, fall in love, fall out of love, and reunite for a happy ending. Famous Beatrices include Katherine Hepburn; Margaret Leighton; Catherine Tate. Famous Benedicks include Sir John Gielgud and David Tennant.

arlenefinnigan Excellent. Lancashire will have its own Shakespeare theatre in my home town, Prescot, soon. It's very exciting. 5y
Cinfhen What a wonderful post and how fun @arlenefinnigan ‼️ 5y
Andrea313 I can never get enough of Much Ado! Have you seen clips from this summer's performance by the Public Theatre with Danielle Brooks as Beatrice? It looked remarkable! 5y

gradcat @arlenefinnigan I am very jealous! Are you in Arizona, or Arkansas, or where? (edited) 5y
gradcat @Cinfhen Thank you! 😊 5y
gradcat @Andrea313 I have not! Where did you find them—online? 5y
Andrea313 @gradcat Yes, you can search YouTube for them. The production was also filmed and will be shown November 22 on PBS. I can't wait! 5y
gradcat @Andrea313 Thank you so much for the info...I wasn‘t aware of that! I appreciate your telling me! ♥️ 5y
arlenefinnigan @gradcat I'm in Lancashire,England - I live in Oldham now, but I grew up in Prescot, near Liverpool. Apparently in Elizabethan times it was the only town outside London to have an indoor playhouse. It was very much in decline when I was a kid (the main employer closed, leaving the town dominated by a massive derelict factory and high unemployment) so the regeneration is very welcome. https://www.knowsleynews.co.uk/shakespeare-north-playhouse-faqs/ 5y
gradcat Oh, that sounds wonderful! There are a great many towns in the US named Prescot, but with many different spellings, and not usually with a single “t” so I should‘ve known you weren‘t here. The article is interesting...thanks for the link!! It‘s really fantastic that it is being restored. ♥️ 5y

I read this one ages ago and liked it - Weinee, a self-proclaimed grump, decides to take a trek around the world and discover the happiest places. He muses on his findings, as well as discovers practices to make life more blissful. #EverybodysHappyNowadays #RedRoseSeptember
