This is what the rest of my evening looks like. New book, calming candle, and a lovely cup of chamomile lavender tea while I wait for the loaf of bread in the oven to finish rising so I can bake it.

I‘m 35 pages in and I can already tell I‘m going to get lost in this novel. Shannon is so great at world building!

Tamra Sounds like a wonderful Friday evening! 1h

Fool's Fate | Robin Hobb

I absolutely love Hobb‘s Realm of the Elderlings series. This was the final book of the Tawny Man Trilogy, and the 9th in the 16 book series. Hobb‘s writing is so enjoyable and I always feel as though I‘m visiting with old friends. She has a tendency to put her characters through the worst, but things mostly turn out fine in the end. Realm of the Elderlings as a series is far better than The Wheel of Time IMO. Start at the beginning. 5⭐️ #2019

rretzler And did I mention, it has dragons! 🐉 7h
TrishB Best fantasy series ever! 7h
rretzler @TrishB I think I would have to agree, although I'm also partial to A Song of Ice and Fire! I've been trying to read Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time series because it was voted one of the best 100 novels/series on the Great American Read. I'm on the 4th book, and to me, it pales in comparison with Realm. I can't connect to the characters and the writing falls flat in comparison to Hobbs! (and Martin and Bujold) 7h

readingjedi I'm currently reading Royal Assassin and I'm hysterically excited to know I've got so much more to come. What is the next trilogy? 6h
rretzler @readingjedi After the Farseer Trilogy, there is the Liveship Traders Trilogy, which is about a different set of characters. I actually liked it slightly better than Farseer. But then I liked the Tawny Man Trilogy, which goes back to the Farseer characters even better than Liveship! It‘s a fantastic series! Next up for me is the Rain Wild Chronicles, which goes back to the Liveship characters. Don‘t skip the non-Farseer trilogies. Happy reading 5h
rretzler @readingjedi The Fitz and The Fool Trilogy rounds out the overall series. The last book in it was published in 2017. I‘m really looking forward to the last 7 books! 5h

I wasn‘t going to buy more books for myself but after seeing B&N #bookhaul posts yesterday I went online to see which books are on sale. As soon as I saw the tagged book I HAD to go get it... and then I came home with five books + the tote + a couple more not shown because they are for my #cozyswap recipient. Oops... 😬🤷‍♀️

The top two are for my son. He‘s reading CatStrounats right now and I‘m going to start the tagged book! 🐉✨

hermyknee Oooh I‘ve really wanted to read Once and Future! I‘ve been reading Priory of the Orange Tree on my kindle! I‘m only 11% in right now, but I like it so far! 4h
MeganAnn @hermyknee Once & Future looks SO good and I can‘t resist a fun King Arthur theme! Samantha Shannon is on my list of favorite authors ever since I read and loved her debut novel, The Bone Season. 😍 Also... it has dragons so really I needed it for that reason alone 😆🐉 3h

So I‘m not a GoT fan, but I‘m really digging our English department T-shirts this year!

There must be someone out there who read this series. I was hooked as an alternative to Tolkien

The Worm Ouroboros | E.R. Eddison

I am really mad at this book right now and contemplating bailing, except that I've been slogging through it for a month and a half and I'm over halfway through so the sunk costs are significant. I'm not going to be able to take much more of this misogynist section though. It's much better (“better“) when it's ignoring the existence of women.

Another satisfying conclusion! I definitely enjoyed this book a lot. The Aes Sedai drama was a highlight. I liked this one a good bit more than the last book. The pacing felt better, even if this one was a chunker. I think I‘m done with the really giant tomes for awhile. Onward to book seven! #BuddyReadWoT
