I finished this book “Queenie”, and I really enjoyed it. I had to put it down several times because it depressed me and I didn‘t want to be put in that state of mind. Queenie is a 20ish black woman who was mentally abused as a child. Now as an adult, she appears to not have self worth. There is a bigger picture and a great story line. 1. Tagged. Play it as it lays.
2. The accurate narrative of someone with major depression. The setting in 1960's Hollywood - actors, sex, drugs, drama, superficiality. The beautiful reduced writing style. Made me race through it and grit my teeth at the accuracy of Maria's descripion. My first 5***** for over one and a half years.
