In the third story in Things Have Gotten Worse, a man finds a #Bone in his backyard. This starts him on a weird encounter with his neighbor.

The most #Wicked individuals aren't characters in fiction books, and Cannibal Killers contains acts of true wickedness.

The Pumpkin Queen makes a discovery about the #Dead leaves inside her.

In Outcast the real #Evil isn't what you think.

I picked this up to have a short, quick read for #bannedbooksweek. Reading it, I have no idea why it was ever banned or challenged, unless it‘s because it‘s so bad.

Randy and I have agreed to listen to each others' song picks, so I'm tempted to choose really dreadful ones...

If any of you haven't heard Be Still by The Killers, stop what you are doing, lie down somewhere quiet and really listen to it 💙

slategreyskies I don‘t have anywhere quiet this evening, but I‘ll give it a listen tomorrow morning. I‘ll let you know what I think! Thanks for the recommendation!! :) 6mo

I must have been reading Bone books since I was in high school, and they don't stop being cute, nor do the Rat Creatures stop being funny in their stupidity. Not super fond of lady bones having hair and some backstory feels a little forced but overall, cute and entertaining.
Bonus cat!

(I'm posting here because I coun't find the 4th book)
This book continues the story and plot really well connecting the last book and maybe the next book. In this book we get to see a lot more of phony bone and near the middle and end we get to see the leaf bug again. This books basic info(small spoilers) is we learn more about thorn being a princess, the protectors of the great red dragon, a war starts, and many new things happen in the village.

Thought of you @vivastory I'm currently reading the Bone books with my son. In this scene, Smiley suggests Fone Bone read (his beloved) Moby Dick aloud to put their predators to sleep. 😁 And it works.
I read this series with my older son and am now re-reading it with my younger. And I've enjoyed it both times! It's quite funny.

Leniverse I just can't get my kids to be interested in this. They're just totally judgemental from the start: "Why is that character smoking?", "Ugh, is he in love with the human girl now?" ?‍♀️ 9mo
merelybookish @Leniverse It was a hard sell with my younger one too. He's so fussy, but he's into it now. When my oldest was young, graphic novels for kids were still pretty scarce so he was pretty game for anything in that genre. 9mo
RaeLovesToRead I LOVE Bone! ☺☺ 9mo

vivastory That's neat that you are able to share this with your youngest. I read several volumes of Bone when I was in high school. A few years ago I picked up an omnibus at HPB, but haven't looked through it yet. One of the things I'm most looking forward to tomorrow is my weekly Moby Dick reading 👏 9mo
merelybookish @RaeLovesToRead It's pretty great! 9mo

Today‘s goal: finish my BONE reread! I don‘t love the series the way I did fifteen years ago, it I do like it an awful lot.

merelybookish I read this with my oldest 10ish years ago and am no now re-reading it with my youngest. That quiche-loving rat creature still makes me laugh. 🙂 13mo
xicanti @merelybookish those two rat creatures are such great kooky villains. 13mo

I aim to make this Boxing Day a big ol‘ reading day, starting with more BONE. This series has such a great mix of wackiness and epic sweep.

BiblioLitten I miss reading Bone. Your post makes me want to read it again. 13mo
xicanti @BiblioLitten it rereads so well. I‘d be whipping through it if the omnibus weren‘t so awkward to read. 13mo

Plot twist: my dad‘s got Omicron symptoms, so the last Christmassy thing that wasn‘t already cancelled just got cancelled. Also, I‘ve gotta lay low for a bit because he‘s my close contact and the testing sites are so clogged up they‘re asking anybody under 40 to just not come unless it‘s serious.

So here I am, drinking a Micro Burst Hazy IPA from Banded Creek Brewing in the middle of the day while I read another volume of BONE. 🤷‍♀️

xicanti The can says, “The Microburst IPA will be gone as quickly as it arrived,” and I didn‘t think that was gonna be true, but FRIENDS, it totally is. This is a surprisingly drinkable beer. 13mo
