On a (short-ish) road trip & decided to stop at a brewery instead of just grabbing fast food. The puppy is pleased.
It‘s a shopping plaza, so of course the sunset is bonkers gorgeous: vivid pink & neon peach. Parking lot sunsets are the best and the worst of us.
…America is a parking lot sunset.

I am not at all current on pop music, which really hampers our bar trivia performance. Our trivia host gives weekly hints, and they were having a category on Coachella, so I did some research before, and, not only did I learn about an excellent song and artist, but it was a trivia question (we still came in 5th, but I got that question right 😜)

I listened to this last weekend for St Patrick‘s Day. It was interesting to learn how Guinness began and even more how it influenced culture and made things better related to health and hygiene in Ireland. However, the author was like a full-fledged cheerleader of constant praise for the Guinness family. You learn at the end that the family has quite the history of suing authors….that may have played a part in the tone and content of the book
First book of the year for me: the 4th in the Sloan Krause nanobrewery series - Sloan is continuing with her sleuthing, learning more about her past, and moving on to the next chapter in her life, post-Mac...
Well, it‘s official: I am glad that I was not born into an empire of any kind and that I am not a billionaire. 😬Shout out to my accountant dad and bank manager mom for raising me with love and security and obscurity, and to all my household bills that require my attention like a normal person.
Still, I do love me some rich-folk drama in my reading life! Felt the author was getting judgy by the end, but overall just well-told good dirt here.
Another tour de force from Des
Literally “Beer hikes in France“. Bought for the beer drinker in my life. Written by a Swiss couple who class anything that lasts 3 hours or less as a leisurely walk 😱; distances under 18km are hikes; and treks are more difficult and over 18km. Walks' descriptions are very wordy, and maps are not provided (just refs to the French equivalent to Ordnance Survey maps). It's good as a stepping-off point.
