I was not enamored by this book at all. It was just okay. I think the ending caught a lot of readers off guard, including myself; making the story seem more than what it really was🤷🏾‍♀️

This was the first book that I‘ve read from both this author and this series. I don‘t know that I‘ll read another book from this series although I‘d be willing to give the author another try. I found the protagonist to be highly irritating and unlikeable I found myself rooting for the foil who was way more interesting. Overall not a good read although there were a few good parts mostly quips by Alanna and a couple of scenes with Tess. #LPMBC

sweetpealsd @Lovesbooks87 did you receive this book yet? 3w
Lovesbooks87 @sweetpealsd I did sorry I didn‘t let you know! 3w
sweetpealsd @Lovesbooks87 it‘s okay. I just wanted to make sure😊 3w

I am so glad I finally read this one. I see so much of my students in both Weses (sp?). By the time most of my kids make it to 9th grade, they are at a fork in the road that will determine the rest of their lives. I wish I could make this mandatory reading for every person in my building- kids and adults. I think this is an important read for everyone.

TheBookHippie I loved this read. 1mo

Clock Dance | Anne Tyler

I felt like it took me a while to push through this book. I wasn‘t a huge fan of it. I‘ve never read anything by Anne Tyler before and I‘m not sure I will again. It just wasn‘t my cup of tea. Overall the book wasn‘t bad but it didn‘t keep me interested enough to not want to put it down. I‘m trying to catch up on the Barnes and Noble book club picks because I‘m so far behind! I give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️.

Oh, just finished this ever so beautiful book.

There were a few funny lines in this book, as always in Tyler's writing, but as I listened to most of it on audio I didn't bother writing any down. I'm seeing the importance of noting down quotes from a book as its doubtful you will easily come across them again. It's just that stopping reading to do this spoils the flow.

Here is a quote from the near end of the book that I thought was amusing.

I loved this character-driven story of the Whitshank family.

First of all, I know I'm a bit slow on the mark, but Woo Hoo for Pic Collage!
Secondly, I've just unearthed quite a collection of my mums books, books she had on her shelf when I was a kid. I will have to post some of the awesome, vintage, 50's & 60's covers one day!
And thirdly, as I unearth my Mothers books onto my own shelf, the tagged book speaks of children having to sort thru & throw away parents belongings after passing...lessons for me???

Leftcoastzen So cool to see these. If I found them at a thrift store, I‘d be picking out some. (edited) 2mo
Curiouser_and_curiouser @Leftcoastzen Yes, I love them! I'm not sure if my mum read any of these, she's still with us, she's just not capable of remembering if she had read them or not. I hope I get the chance to read a few before my kids end up sending my book collection to the thrift store after I'm gone 😉 Fact of life huh? Confirmed for me again in the book I'm reading atm 2mo
MrsMalaprop As you know I‘m a Tyler fan, but I‘ve yet to read this one. Now that I know what it‘s about I‘ll have to bump it up my #tbr. My dad had dementia & died a year ago & my mum is now diagnosed & in aged care. My sister & I cleared out their home & the thousands of books that lined the walls. I took some books, but so many went to the RSPCA & Save the Children. Hope others will get some pleasure from them. 1mo

So this was... okay. Lol. I didn‘t love it. I didn‘t even like some of the plot. I am Very Sensitive, so anything that happens to kids really really upsets me. I did like the main character though.

@sweetpealsd The book should get to you on the 8th! Sorry I didn‘t get it in the mail sooner! 😫

sweetpealsd It‘s all good😊 2mo

I started this yesterday on audiobook whilst doing some sorting and continuing it tonight laying in bed. I'm loving it, its focused on family and relationships and of course it's in Anne Tyler's beautiful style.

Thousand-Lives I have only read Clock Dance by Anne Tyler. Loved it and have been meaning to read more of her work. Will bump this one up on my list! Do you have any other recommendations of hers to try? 2mo
Curiouser_and_curiouser Hi @Thousand-Lives ! I also read Patchwork Planet last year, my first Tyler, and I just loved it! I really love her style of writing, its like I'm home. I find it very relaxing and exciting all at the same time. I'm looking forward to reading a few others of hers this year also, The Accidental Tourist, An Amateur Marriage, Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant and Breathing Lessons, all of which I have copies of on my shelf, found at op shops. 2mo
Thousand-Lives @Curiouser_and_curiouser It sounds like we have very similar taste! I also have those on my waiting to be read stacks. 😁 Haven‘t heard of Patchwork Planet, but will check it out. Thank you! 2mo

Curiouser_and_curiouser Hi @TheHeartlandBookFairy , I hope you enjoy it! Have you read any other of Anne Tyler's novels? 2mo
TheHeartlandBookFairy @Curiouser_and_curiouser I think just one or maybe two but my goal this year is to catch up on books I missed from authors I enjoy and on series! 😁 2mo
Thousand-Lives Your review motivated me to read this. Finished it last night and loved it! 2mo
Curiouser_and_curiouser @Thousand-Lives oh wow! Thanks for letting me know, I'm so pleased to hear. I've only got a chapter to go (23 minutes on audio) About to go and finish it now! I've loved it too! 2mo
Curiouser_and_curiouser @Thousand-Lives omg!! I fell asleep listening to my audiobook and it expired at midnight with only 20 minutes to go! Lol, silly me. I have to reserve it now and wait 2 weeks to hear the rest! 2mo
Thousand-Lives @Curiouser_and_curiouser OMG noooo! This sounds like something that would happen to me 🤣 How disappointing! 2mo
Curiouser_and_curiouser @Thousand-Lives I've just sourced the ebook and downloaded it, I'll read it now, phew! It just wouldn't have been the same if I'd have had to wait 2 weeks just to read the closing chapter, I really enjoyed the last part of the book throughout today and was so looking forward to the end. Can't wait to finish it. Thanks for being my sympathetic book buddy xx 2mo
Thousand-Lives @Curiouser_and_curiouser Yay good! 👏👏 Hope you enjoy the end. 2mo
