I know this is supposed to be shocking and disturbing but I didn't really see it that way. Either I'm just incredibly desensitized or have absolutely no faith in humanity as a whole but if the last few years have shown me anything it's that humans will absolutely turn on each other in a time of crisis. If the meat we currently breed for food becomes toxic would we turn to our own as a replacement? I believe yes. Sad but true in my eyes.

FantasyChick I really don't think this future is all that far fetched, which is scary but not all that shocking to me. Humans suck. My main problem with this book is that it is just plain boring. I kept waiting for something that never came and when I got to the last line I turned the page expecting more. 🤷‍♀️ 4h

The books in red I am currently reading - ended up reading more “free spaces“ - but I am thoroughly enjoying my first attempt at #BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks

Plan to finish tagged book over weekend (it is a book I want to finish and at the same time I don't since I like the characters and don't necessarily want to say goodbye)- #JoyousJanuary @Andrew65

Make a great day everyone 🙂

This was just what I needed to get my head off all the stress at the moment. This was so much fun to listen to, one of the best audio books I've heard so far. The story is great as well. One can read it as a witty fantasy story OR one can as well interpret it as an overcoming of two races that were taught to hate each other for centuries. However you like it. Don't miss out on looking at the awesome illustrations by Yelchin-you might be surprised.

After watching the final episode of The Expanse season 6, I felt compelled to reread the first book. It was interesting to spot the small differences between the book and the TV adaptation.

My dilemma: read the recently published book 9 to find out how the series ends or reread books 2 through 8 first?

Second book finished for #JoyousJanuary. @Andrew65

shanaqui I'd reread -- there's sooo much in the books that I found I'd forgotten, when I started rereading. 9h

This 100 miles in January goal to raise $$ for cancer research has me blowing through the audiobooks! This one was good, a bit slow at first but the prose was so gorgeous it kept me listening. Mother daughter relationships are so layered and emotionally charged and this book explores that in depth while also considering slavery, colorism, love and pain. Roxane Gay called it a must read and she was right! #BIPOC #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks

Bk6 of January 2022 & #JumpStart2022 is done. It‘s also the 2nd for #JoyousJanuary #readathon & my #Bookspin for January. Yay! Finally finished another book, my stats for Jan are awful so far. Though most were over 500pgs. I loved this the 1st time I read it & this time was no different. Very different from what he‘s famous for, both the plot & characters were well thought out & wonderful to read. Highly recommend. #BookspinBingo #LitsyAToZ2022👇

Lizpixie @Clwojick thanks lovely! I look at my book stats which is only six but then I remember that five of them were over 500 pages long! And one was almost 900 pages. So I have actually read a lot🙌 6h

This dystopian novel reminded me of the MaddAddam series, only I feel Atwood did it better.

I might have to revisit this in the future though because the writing was complex and beautifully done I just couldn't stop comparing it to other books while reading it.

There's something really freaking brilliant about this. It's not being described as satire but I have no other explanation for it.

I have enjoyed the books in this series but something was off for me with this one. I loved the male character Ben but Anna, the female lead, was annoying and selfish. I wasn't 100% sold on their romance by the end.
