Don‘t hate me...#unpopularopinion time. This was so hard to get through for me. What I liked: the historical anecdotes cleverly placed throughout the book, as well as the “boys‘” stories. What I didn‘t like: the boat talk. Sorry, rowing isn‘t for me. I understand why the mechanics and the rowing terminology were discussed, but it didn‘t hold my interest.

Chronic_Reader I also rated the book so-so but for the opposite reasons 😂 As a collegiate coxswain, I only enjoyed the rowing parts and got bored with the history. Rowing requires an entirely new language/vocabulary that is hard to read if you haven‘t lived it. I was so confused with all the new words when I started the sport. 6y

Librarybelle @Chronic_Reader Rowing is a very different language and sounds like it takes much endurance and sacrifice. Awesome to you for living the sport...I do not have a single ounce of athletic ability in me, so I really appreciate the talent it takes for any sport. 🙂 6y

You Will Know Me: A Novel | Megan Abbott

This was my first Megan Abbott novel - it was a good mixture of family drama and mystery, but the characters were all a bit exaggerated and the only likeable one was the son. I‘m counting this for my book #aboutsports for the #litsyreadingchallenge2018 because of all the details about gymnastics! @jessberk13

I loved this story. I loved the romance between Tina and Joanna (Joe). It was sweet and sexy. Even more, I loved the non-romantic relationships that Tina develops when she joins the roller derby team.
