Brunetti is slowly growing on me, and I think a lot of it has to do with his dry and at times cynical sense of humor. It‘s a heatwave in Venice, and there are times in the narrative you could feel the heat. Brunetti balances justice and truth in this one, with a plot line that has twists. #1994 #19822022

Full disclosure: I'm an attempted suicide survivor, and I suffer from depression. I've wanted to read this book for a very long time, but I feared that it would be too triggering. I'm so glad that I finally picked it up. Elizabeth's story resonates with my own, and her writing is engaging and interesting.

Now that I finally have this book, I can start the #birthdaychallenge! This was a bestseller in 1994, the year I was born. #readingchallenge #1994

An amazing and sometimes heartbreaking read. Nelson Mandela is truly a hero.

Suzze When I said good morning to Alexa today (Amazon Echo), she said Mandela was freed from prison on this day in 1990. 6y

bookwrm526 My brother lived in Savannah when this came out - we really enjoyed it, and seeing some of the places in the book when we went to visit, but he worked in hotels and got tired of "the book" pretty quickly lol 6y
BeththeBookDragon @bookwrm526 I bet! I wanted so much to go - this is one of those books I spent looking up locations and people and circumstances on the internet, but I can imagine it got pretty old pretty quick! 6y
Cortg Wonderful book. My sister has spent the last 2 summers in Savannah. She's not a big reader but I insisted she read it. She loved it! 6y
