I started reading this in 2023 but just finished it today. 😅 I even had a second cuppa this AM! (Very rare, I usually only have 1 in the morning, but it was so beautiful out and I wanted to nestle in with my book and coffee.) Glad I returned to the story of Taylor and Turtle who deserve all the happiness! 4/5⭐️

I realized late yesterday when I started listening to this that it‘s an Audible Plus selection that will disappear from my library on July 15th! So, I really delved into it today and I‘m quite enjoying it so far. All the recipes and baking have me wanting to start making my own cupcakes! 😅

PurpleyPumpkin @mcctrish This has been on my TBR for years! Glad I‘m finally getting around to it. 😅 3d
mcctrish @PurpleyPumpkin this is the summer I try to read some of my older TBR but so far it‘s been newer stuff 😆 3d

PurpleyPumpkin @mcctrish I was planning the same, but I‘ve been all over the place! My newer books are calling me… 3d
Amiable I have a love-meh relationship with Ann Patchett books —this one fell into the love column! 3d
PurpleyPumpkin @Amiable Good to hear! It‘s my first and I‘m really enjoying it so far. 😉 3d

Every now and then, I find myself yearning to read something silly and fun. Stephanie Plum always fits the bill and this installment in the series was no exception. There were a number of lol moments while Stephanie et al. worked on catching the bad guys. Excellent palate cleanser. 3.5⭐️

tpixie Yes she is!! I read to be of them in a row and got a little tired of them, but I am kind of miss Stephanie and her antics. I do read JD Rob‘s eve Dallas books that are also a pallet cleanser for me that are not near as funny. I just like going back to her friends. 4d
PurpleyPumpkin @tpixie Admittedly, it‘s been some time since I last read a book in this series. I enjoy them, but in small doses. Reading each book in succession starts to feel exhausting! But when I‘ve been away from them for a bit, I find them quite enjoyable. I‘ve never read JD Robb, so I‘ll have to check out those books!😉 4d
MemoirsForMe Sounds like a fun read! I have yet to read one of her books. 4d

CarolynM Exactly why I still read them🙂 4d
PurpleyPumpkin @MemoirsForMe You‘ve got lots to look forward to! So many books, so little time. 📚 3d
PurpleyPumpkin @CarolynM 🙌🏽😉 I stopped adding to my collection a while ago. But I‘ll always go back to them when I need a pick-me-up. They‘re popular at my library so I‘ll still be able to read them. 😉 3d

This was a tough read but so important. The author seems to have done her research and I appreciated how she incorporated the true stories she was told into this book. 4/5 ⭐️

A Man and His Cat 1 | Umi Sakurai

I was hoping to post this yesterday to keep on track with my #100DayProject2025, but after I sprained my ankle🙄, my day kinda went off the rails. Anyway, this was a sweet story about a cat and a man, both in need of each other, and their early days together. I haven‘t read manga in a while and it took me a minute to get the hang of it again! But once I did, I really enjoyed this. Looking forward to the next in the series. 💜🐾 3/50

MemoirsForMe Oh my! Hope your sprain is getting better. I guess all that dancing on tables after retirement might not be the best idea. 😁🤭😉 5d

PurpleyPumpkin @MemoirsForMe Oh I WISH that was how it happened! It was much more prosaic, I caught the corner of a patio stone when I came down a step. Grr!!! 5d
RoyallyReading I've been noticing a rise in manga series that involve cats. My local library is full of them. I've seen at least 6 - 8 different titles with “cat“ in them 😹 5d
MemoirsForMe Whatever story you want to tell is ok by me! 😂 😉 Keep feeling better! 5d
PurpleyPumpkin @RoyallyReading How interesting! I‘ll have to look into other cat series. I started collecting these books some time ago and just got around to reading them now. 😅 I was surprised to learn that there are now 13 books in this series! I‘ve got the first 5. Lots to look forward to I guess!😁 4d

I very much enjoyed this magical novel about found family and belonging. Such a sweet story to read anytime of year, but would be particularly fun in the fall. 4/5⭐️

Oof this has been a tough read! But I‘m glad I‘m reading it thanks to @Jess861 and the #OhCanada buddy read. I‘m a tad behind but learning so much about an important part of Canadian history of which I was quite unaware.

Jess861 I'm so glad you are getting a chance to read it! It is another hard chapter of Canadian history but I hope you enjoy the book. Crazy that it isn't taught about at all in school. 1w
PurpleyPumpkin @Jess861 It really is crazy that this doesn‘t get touched on in history lessons!😳 I read your comment about the ending being a happy one. That gave me hope! 1w
Jess861 @PurpleyPumpkin Happy for some. 1w

The Summer Book | Tove Jansson

This book is such a lovely way to begin my summer reading. 5/5⭐️ It‘s also the start of a challenge I‘ve set for myself, my #100DayProject2025 to mark the beginning of my endless vacation, aka forever freedom, aka Renaissance years, aka retirement! My 3 rules: that I own the book, that I journal about it, & that I post daily (to keep me honest 😅). My goal is to read 50 books in 100 days, which is a lofty goal for me!🤞🏽

kspenmoll Wonderful way to celebrate your retirement!! 1w
TheLudicReader Congrats on your retirement! I am thinking about going in June 2026 and picture it as one long, swoony reading sprint. 1w
PurpleyPumpkin @MemoirsForMe Exactly! I‘ve always wanted the opportunity to read my days away so thought this would be the perfect way to start that journey. And I‘m taking your advice, I‘m avoiding super chunksters!😅 1w
PurpleyPumpkin @kspenmoll @TheLudicReader Thanks so much! I‘m very happy to be able to spend more time reading. ☺️ 1w
