I love this book! It really helped me identify my own personal style (not fashion, or fad etc, but my unique individual style) and how to live that out in any budget, circumstance, comparison, lifestyle. It‘s dense and wordy, and is helpful if you‘re willing to put in the work in your closet.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

I don‘t consider myself a follower of fashion, so this book contained a lot of advice I found helpful.I appreciated the author‘s guidance on how to create your own style profile regardless of what‘s in season at the moment or what type of body you have. There are several flowcharts included in the book which did not display correctly in my kindle, so I switched to the print copy which I definitely recommend. (I hate that sticker on the cover!)

Apostcardlife I wonder if Goo Be Gone will work okay on those? Maybe super little on a very slightly damp cloth? 🤔🤷‍♀️ 3y

I really enjoyed the step-by-step analysis of personal style and wardrobe in this book. As someone who doesn‘t really think about clothes that much, this book gave me a simple way to choose clothes with a purpose and create a personal style that works with my lifestyle and aesthetic.

Second by the book episode we loved during our road trip to NYC. My daughter has asked me to get the book. But first: Mean Girls on Broadway. On Wednesday‘s we drink pink.

I haven‘t put much thought into my closet for years. Thanks to middle age and rarely leaving the house, my “style” is limited to the few stretchy items that still fit. I‘m too fat for most of my wardrobe, but too poor to buy a new one.

I like the emphasis on wearing what you like. Good tips on detoxing your closet, figuring out colors and styles, and choosing quality.

sunshine_librarian I checked this out from the library so many times, I finally bought a copy! I love that it's a realistic and gradual process and I want to cultivate some kind of style, but I can't seem to get past the inspiration stage. Do you have any tips for finding outfit photos of real people? 6y
Deborah42 sunshine_librarian, there‘s a podcast called By the Book where the hosts live by self-help books and then discuss their experiences. They recently did this book and there‘s lots of discussion about the process in their Facebook group (including members posting their own wardrobe selfies). 6y

Amazing book. I devoured this. Needed to do an overhaul of my closet and was feeling frumpy and low until I read this and now I have the tools to dress MY way, within MY budget, and for MY size, confidently. She does away with hard and fast rules, it‘s about fit, not size or what‘s got this season. It‘s about taking the time to buy long lasting pieces and not falling prey to sales where you come home with garments that fall apart. Absolutely great

I seriously recommend this book to anyone that is looking to get more strategic about their wardrobe. There is homework involved, but every exercise is well worth it. I feel like I have really honed in on my personal style and am empowered to shop intelligently.

This isn't a cover-to-cover read, but if you're vaguely interested in style and/or looking to overhaul your closet, it's worth a skim. I had been hanging on to clothes from years ago (when I worked in an office, instead of at home); always felt like I had "nothing to wear"; and found my closet a miserable place to be. A solid closet cleaning + some of the ideas here have helped turn all that around.

Rather than buy new clothes and endlessly search through my overstuffed closet, I've taken to research: forget fashion, style is immortal! #clothesmakethewoman

LauraBrook I've been curious about this! Looking forward to your process. ❤️👚 7y

I've decluttered my closet several times in the last few years, and although I still have a ton of stuff I feel like I'm finally getting within sight of my perfect wardrobe. I picked up this book on a whim and so far it seems to have some useful exercises for refining your style and creating a closet full of stuff you love.

This ebook's wacky formatting is cracking me up. MY CLOSET IS NOT A DRAMATIC ISSUE AT ALL. YES I AM YELLING 😝 💅💅💅

Riveted_Reader_Melissa I have never given it this much thought. When I first read the quote, I thought it was a painting quote! 8y
Librariana I thought it was related to paint, too, @Riveted_Reader_Melissa ! 😊 Am I allowed to just like the book title? 😄 8y
