This was an incredibly solid, well researched, good book. I have been to Versailles and always wanted to know more about Louis XIV, and this book not only provided insight to his life and times, but the women in his life. Louis surrounded himself and was influenced by some incredibly strong women - from his mother, Anne of Austria to his clandestine wife, Madame de Maintenon. The genealogy can get a bit confusing but it‘s worth the perseverance!

This is difficult to say, because of the topic of this book, but I didn‘t like it that much. Or better put: I struggled with what was an incredible story told by a poor writer. I was uncomfortable giving the book a bad rating because of the content. The writing is simplistic, and makes Lale‘s story, which is vital to share, seem implausible and trite. I‘m giving it 3 starts because the content is 5 star, but the writing is 2 star.

This was a fantastic introduction to Greek mythology. I didn‘t know much about the Greek myths and this was incredibly insightful, humorous and fun. Hats off to Mr. Fry for a job well done and for initiating a newbie into the wonderful stories of Ancient Greece ☺️👏🏼📖

Amazing book. I devoured this. Needed to do an overhaul of my closet and was feeling frumpy and low until I read this and now I have the tools to dress MY way, within MY budget, and for MY size, confidently. She does away with hard and fast rules, it‘s about fit, not size or what‘s got this season. It‘s about taking the time to buy long lasting pieces and not falling prey to sales where you come home with garments that fall apart. Absolutely great

An incredible book. Set in NYC, it captures the interwoven lives of a group of people in a building over the span of 30 years during the worst of the AIDS crisis. It‘s beautifully written, heartbreaking, and powerful. If you‘re looking for a great queer book to read - this MUST be on your shelf. I can‘t recommend this enough❤️👏🏼

An AMAZING book. Uplifting, easy to read, witty, and poignant. What a woman! I can't recommend this enough! I only wish I was able to vote for her. A must-read for those of us women who have been trolled and silenced.

I just bought this after having to leave my copy behind in Canada. Watched the movie on Amazon Prime the other night (one of my all time favourites) and missed the book. After a tough month, this really cheers me up 😊❤️📚

A great introductory book for the study of medieval women. Written with high school and university students in mind, the book debunks the myth that medieval women were oppressed and entirely without agency. Goes through early to late medieval women and offers a good modern feminist analysis at the end for modern readers. Good glossary of terms and resources for further study along with links to websites. Not for seasoned scholars.
