Hollow City: The Graphic Novel
Hollow City: The Graphic Novel: The Second Novel of Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children | Ransom Riggs
15 posts | 18 read | 9 to read
After fleeing an army of terrible monsters, Jacob Portman and his peculiar friends find themselves lost at sea, but the only person who might be able to get them ashore safely, their illustrious headmistress Miss Peregrine, is stuck in the form of a bird! Hoping to find a way to get Miss Peregrine back to normal--or as normal as a peculiar can get--the children journey to London. But no matter where they go, trouble lurks after them... Cassandra Jean's evocative visuals once again work seamlessly with Hollow City's vintage photographs and Ransom Rigg's twisting fantasy narrative to make for a wholly immersive reading experience for fans of the original novels, fans graphic novels, and fans of reading great stories alike!

Again, like the first graphic novel adaption of this series, I liked the GN much better. Excellent artwork and engaging story.

I would mostly recommend for high school and up, with the exception of the advanced reader in 8th grade.

This book is the sequel to Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. In Hollow City, Jacob and the peculiar children are trying to help Miss Peregrine to transform back to her human form. The longer she stays in bird form, the more human self of hers will be lost. Only another ymbryne can help her.

There is meat enough to get you hooked, but not enough to satisfy your hunger.

Texreader I couldn't get past book one. Did you like the first one? 7y

I loved this book!! The ending was a cliff-hanger so I am diving right into Library of Souls which became available today on my overdrive account! Here's Ozzie and part of Nikie taking it easy on my new snowflake flannel sheets. 😻😻👍😎😉#catsoflitsy #petsoflitsy

Mimi28 I wish Library of Souls was a graphic novel too, but oh well... lol 7y

#readingcompanions #photoadaynov16 Here's Ozzie on my chest just now. I have 5 cats and they all love my bed. I only have a full sized bed but 4 can fit on here with me easily. I am going to try to finish this book today too 📚❤️😻🤓

#booknerdproblems #blameitonlitsy #libraryhaul too many times 📚📚📚 As I was putting all the books in one place for this picture, my mom said-- Is that safe?! lol I am going to put most of them back in the storage bags I had them in. I have 43 physical books and 7 ebooks out from the library. Any ideas on what I should read next???? And this does not include the mantles that are being used to store books and not display family pics 🤓🙄😔

Suzze Wow! How can you possibly get them all read in time? You must be a reading machine! 📚📚📚📚 7y
Mimi28 @Suzze Lol, no. I constantly renew them and really only take them back when another patron requests them or a more interesting book comes in from hold at the library. I've been in kind of a slump. I've been reading a lot of graphic novels 😊 7y
Suzze @Mimi28 My library only allows two renewals. I took back Underground Airlines unfinished. I made a note on Goodreads of what page I was on. I'll go back soon and check it out again. 7y

#libraryhaul this week. Four of them are from today that came in that were on hold! A Mercy by Toni Morrison is for a 10am book club tomorrow morning and I haven't even started it yet. The Mothers and Razor Girl and Lumberjanes #blameitonlitsy and I just read the graphic novel of the curious case of Benjamin Button so I wanted to read the actual story. The Weaver was featured on the library website and looked interesting 👀 Here's sleepy Ozzie 😻

LauraBeth Well I can go to sleep now - I've gotten my Friday Oz 😻 7y
Mimi28 @LauraBeth lol goodnight 🌙 I'll try to post more pics of him 😻 7y

JanuarieTimewalker13 @Mimi28 Ozzie is so handsome. I have 2 black and whites, one is a tuxedo, but I've never seen a white and black!!! All the black and whites are mostly black. I'm so happy I was stalking catsoflitsy...lol...a true cat/book nerd. 7y
Mimi28 @JanuarieTimewalker13 Thanks! He also has 6 toes on his front claws. When I went to pick him up, his brother (or sister) was also black and white and had 7 toes on it's front AND back claws. I would have grabbed that one too, but another little grey kitten reminded me of one I had recently put down, so I took that one 😻 7y

Once again, enjoyed the story along with the pictures of this hang of peculiars. I've heard so much criticism about it being so childish because of the pictures, but, and I don't know about everyone else, but why wouldn't I want to be reminded of being a kid again?

I much prefer an actual book in hand but sometimes this is all that is feasible. #peculiar #ransomriggs #hollowcity

When I started this last night I wasn't sure I was having the correct emotional response to the series. I haven't read the original books so this is the first time I'm hearing the story. I'm really enjoying it though. The art work is gorgeous.

Just like my review for the first book, I would definitely recommend that a person read the actual book before the graphic novel because (obviously) quite a bit is left out. Also, just like the first graphic novel, the style in this one is very simple. Still a very fun read!

I cannot wait to get my hands on the third graphic novel when it is published!
