pickI enjoyed this standalone more than the last couple of Jackson‘s books that I‘ve read! While it shares a disdain for the justice system & a preference for handling things yourself, it has a similar chemistry of partner investigation that I loved about AGGTM. Bel has lived nearly her whole life in the shadow of her mother‘s sudden disappearance but when the family agrees to a documentary, her mother reappears & Bel‘s determined to find the truth!
panThis was a very convoluted tale which should have been edited prior to publication. The drama was extreme and the actual emotions lacking. Unbelievable reactions by characters. The only thing that rang true was the gross behavior of the media.
pickAt first I was super frustrated and annoyed with the daughter, but then it all came together wonderfully!!

pickI almost gave up on this one, but l'm glad I didn't. Once Rachel Price reappears, the story just keeps getting better. This would make a fantastic mother-daughter read. So twisty turny!

• The less-than-likable characters, the overwhelming length, and the unrealistic ending all combined to leave me feeling underwhelmed. While it didn‘t work for me, I can totally see it working for others.
• The narration by Sophie Amoss was decent. She does a teenage character quite well.

pickI definitely liked this one way more than her previous standalone. This one was pretty good, it was engaging and mysterious but it was definitely too long. Leave it to Holly Jackson to make me root for women doing crimes and covering them up.
pickBelle Price is tired of being defined by her missing mother. So when a woman claiming to be Rachel Price shows up in the middle of filming for a documentary about her disappearance, Belle is suspicious. Having Rachel back has only made everything weirder. But if Belle can figure out what secrets Rachel is hiding, maybe she can find some way to get rid of her again. Gosh, Holly Jackson knows how to write a mystery / thriller.

Holly Jackson filled this with twists and had me suspecting most of the characters at different points in the story.
pick18 y/o Bel and her family are the subject of a documentary, centering around her mother‘s disappearance 16 years ago, an unsolved mystery. As the title states, her mother reappears, alive and well, upending Bel‘s life as she knows it. HJ does a great job of casting doubt on all the characters, and I never knew who to trust, or even WTH was going on until close to the end…but in a good way! The last 1/4 was very twisty!

pickI suspended disbelief because I found it hard to accept a 16-yr disappeared/kidnapped woman considered so casually by authorities in her community. I‘d have also changed the ending for some truthful YA empowerment. That aside, I thought this thriller was an engaging and fun ride.
pick⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Holly Jackson is so good at creating fiction that reads like true crime. Rachel Price went missing years ago. Now her family, desperate for money, is participating in a documentary about her disappearance. Suddenly, as the title implies, she reappears. Now her daughter Bel is trying to piece together what happened. A bit of a wild ride, but so much more than your average thriller. I couldn‘t stop listening!
