“oh, is Sophie ever angry now!”

I like how it shows that some people get really mad but the littlest things cheer them up. Being mad and upset is just temporary. I also loved the illustrations in the book i loved how they illustrated her anger with the red lines.

I like this book for kids. A lot of kids have a hard time controlling their emotions and I think this would be a good read aloud to read to them.

This book was a Caldecott award winner in 2000. It was published in 1999. This book shows a really good depiction of handling anger. I, personally, so similar things to Sophie. Showing children that it is okay to be angry, to take a minute to yourself, and come back afterwards with love is such a great lesson!

“The wide world comforts her”

“Everything‘s back together again” and Sophie and her whole family are together and coincidently doing a puzzle! I like that it shows that you can get angry and things will go back to normal and people won‘t be upset with you. It‘s a good way to let kids know it‘s okay to feel their feelings.

This book would be great to use with younger kids as a reminder that we all have feelings and we all have to deal with them. I would like to use it for social emotional learning/ teaching in my own classroom, as well as the others in the “series”.

When Sophie Gets Angry-Really, Really Angry by Molly Bang 2000. Sophie‘s sister and her are playing when all of the sudden, Sophie‘s toy is taken away from her. The book then walks us through how Sophie feels her feeling after getting upset and the ways she calms herself down. The author/ illustrator uses colors to perceive how Sophie‘s feelings are developing throughout. The pages are red when she‘s mad and blue when she‘s calming down. Caldecott

“She wants the world to smash to smithereens.“ I thought this was a good quote kids can resonate with.

I would read this book after a time where there's a lot of conflict amongst the kids. It's a great way to open a discussion about anger, how it makes us feel, and ways to control and manage our anger.

“When Sophie gets Angry-Really, Really Angry“ by Molly Bang, 2004. Caldecott Honor Award. I love this book and think it's a must have for the classroom. Anger is a big feeling, especially for kids, and this book is a good way to reassure them that that's okay. I also think the illustrations are very neat and use color in a very creative way so the illustrations pop out at you, sort of mimicking how anger makes you feel.

I think that this book teaches a valuable lesson to children who may be experiencing anger sometimes, especially when someone takes their toy away(1999). I think that the message and the layout of the book is great.
Aside from that I liked the illustrations. At some points I thought that there was a lot going on in the page, but I enjoyed the use of the words within the illustrations.

This book would be good for kindergartners and 1st grade. The students would like the pictures in the story. The class would get a great message by hearing this book which makes it great for these ages.

This book is a picture book. It‘s a great book for kids because it teaches them a lesson. It shows kids that you don‘t need to get so angry, you have to learn to be patient. I really liked this book and would definitely read it to my students.

This picture book focuses on one main thing with the illustrations - the colors. As Sophie's anger starts to build up, the pages become more red and red and red. It also contains vivid pictures with heavy lines and bold action words to help portray the mood. As she calms down, the pictures turn soft, with blue/greens giving us a sense she is okay. Its a great book and teaches us to be willing to share, not overreact, or talk through a situation!

This book is about a little girl who gets really angry because her sister took the toy she was playing with. After a while she calms down when the outdoors comforts her and realizes where everything isn't as big as it seems!

I liked when the book says “everyone is glad she‘s home” because it shows that your family loves you no matter what

This would be good to explain to kids it‘s okay to get angry but it doesn‘t stay like that and that everything‘s gonna be okay

This is a caldecott honor book. I loved this book and think it would help kids work through emotions well

Bang‘s use of colors easily presents the story‘s mood

The line work throughout the book shows great detail especially in the animals through the book showing their fur.

This book follows Sophie as she gets angry at her sister for stealing a toy. She yells and hits and explodes and runs away.

When Sophie Gets Angry- Really, Really Angry by Molly Bang published in 1999 won a caldecott award. I wasn‘t a huge fan of this book because while it was fun & i likes the drawings, I felt it gave kids a bad way of handing their emotions. Running away and hitting things isn‘t a good way to handle it and i felt it didn‘t discourage this behavior.

I wish this story had more to it. It could be relatable for a lot of kids. I still had questions at the end- were her parents mad she ran away? how did she solve things with her sister? how can they prevent sophie running away from happening in the future?

This wasn‘t my favorite book so far, but it had cool pictures and good descriptive words. Sophie, a young girl, is mad that her sister took her toy. She needs to blow off steam, and seems to run away. However, she finds that this helps her calm down. She returns home at the end.
