The Girl in the Pink Shoes
The Girl in the Pink Shoes: A Heart-pounding Crime Novel Packed with Twists | Stacy Green
3 posts | 2 read | 3 to read
My baby girl. This morning she was so excited for school. I bought her new shoes last night. Pink, sparkly shoes. She loved them so much. She wore them for the first time today. And now she is gone... It is every mother's worst nightmare. Eight-year-old Kailey Richardson skips out of the school gates in her brand-new pink shoes and never makes it home. Between the school and the safety of her shiny red front door, someone has taken her. Private Investigator Lucy Kendall sees the fliers of a smiling gap-toothed Kailey and knows she won't be able to sleep until the little girl is found. Having lost her own sister to the darkest evil, she is determined to help find Kailey before it is too late. As Lucy talks to Kailey's friends, desperate to find out who has taken the happy little girl, she begins to form a worrying picture of the days before Kailey's disappearance. The blue car idling in the street outside the school. The friendly man across the road. And Kailey's mother, Jenna, hollow-eyed and jumpy, clutching Kailey's teddy bear and not telling Lucy everything. Lucy has promised Jenna she will do everything to find her daughter. But then she discovers Jenna has a connection to the prime suspect in Kailey's disappearance... and one which brings Lucy's past rushing back to haunt her. Time is running out to find Kailey, but will Lucy be able to save this innocent little girl before her own demons destroy her? You won't want to stop turning the pages of this unputdownable crime thriller. Fans of Lisa Regan, Robert Dugoni and Kendra Elliot will be reading The Girl in the Pink Shoes late into the night. Previously published as All Good Deeds. What everyone is saying about The Girl in the Pink Shoes: "WOW... this book will keep you turning the page until you get to the end! There are numerous twists and turns... every time you turn around, another one comes at you! I was totally shocked at the end. And wanting more of Lucy! It's been a few days since I read the book, and I still can't do a review justice... Please, do yourself a favor and read this book for yourself. You will not be sorry." Goodreads reviewer, ????? "I devoured this... I loved this book! Fast paced, non-stop from woe to go. Well written - perfect. This is what you want your reading to be. Gritty, edge of your seat.' Goodreads reviewer, ?????

Lucy Kendall is surveilling a possible target at a local bar. She's a private investigator with a difference as she dispenses her own justice on the paedophiles & rapists in her city. This time, however, when she returns from the bathroom ready to hone in on her target, he is nowhere to be seen & in his place is a stranger who says he knows what she does & that he does the same thing. Lucy plays it cool but she's worried she's about to get caught.

OutsmartYourShelf When eight-year-old Kailey goes missing on the way home from school, Lucy realises that someone from her past lives in the neighbourhood, a young man named Justin, whom she met whilst working for the CPS several years ago & who was accused of a terrible crime when he was a boy. Is the past repeating itself?

OutsmartYourShelf First of all, the subject matter is going to make this a difficult book for some people to read, so please be aware that it deals with child abduction, paedophilia, & child abuse. The narrative is well-written though & even though some parts have graphic violence, I felt it was dealt with in an appropriate manner. The MC is definitely one that the reader roots for, she's kind of kick-ass. 1y
OutsmartYourShelf Overall I thought it was a gripping read with plenty of twists & turns. There's a little bit of possible future romance/spark but nothing over the top at this stage. I plan on reading at least the next one in the series. 3.5🌟

My thanks to #NetGalley & publishers, Bookouture, for the opportunity to read an ARC.

Read 7th-10th Jan 2023

This is book 1 in the Lucy Kendall series. Lucy worked in Child Protective Services but is now a Private Investigator. Her 13 year old sister went missing and killed her self in the aftermath. It is a psychological thriller and a real page-turner. An 8 year old is now missing and Lucy needs to find her.

EadieB The ending was satisfying and kept the pages turning. I am looking forward to the next book in the series in order to get to know Lucy better. If you love psychological thrillers then you will love this book. I would like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for a copy for an honest review. 1y
