This was fascinating to read. As I‘ve seen many mention, the middle section can get a bit tedious and repetitive but overall it was very engaging, simple writing and short, quick snippets of stories. Occasionally I would have wanted more detail, his lifestyle is so unique sometimes it‘s difficult to picture, but a great, broad stroke through his life and very touching and emotional in many places! Glad I read it and got to understand him more.

I listened to the audiobook of this one. It is read by Harry. I enjoyed the book. The ghostwriter did an excellent job. The book and subject matter are compelling and the book is well-written.

Huge controversy over this one but I enjoyed it. I don't see the blatantant slander that it's been cracked up to - just a man telling *HIS* story. Some great anecdotes, some less than needed 🥶🥶 but an all out prettt good read

Taking a short break from series reading. I‘ve been waiting to read this one for a while and now I‘m ready to dig in.

Oh my goodness- my hold has come in ! It‘s time for bed but maybe I‘ll just listen for awhile - he has a lovely voice and you can tell he loved his Granny and Grandpa

I really hope for a rebuttal from William because I‘m not buying some of the exchanges as Harry remembers them. He reminds me of the stereotypical youngest uncle that can‘t hold a job and drinks too much and dabbles in hard drugs. He tries hard occasionally but falters again after about a week on the wagon. That‘s not really what happens but the personality seems the same 😅. Despite skimming some parts, I couldn‘t put it down and enjoyed it!

Welp there are 4 things I know as I read this book so far. 1. Prince Harry should have got his butt whooped a few times for some of those high school antics 2. Prince Harry was not as sneaky as he thought 3. Affection is more valuable than money 4. Childhood tramua untreated will manifest later. I am only up to age 19 now. Can‘t read this book without chamomile tea or wine.

I found it very well written and the narrator (Harry himself) was superb. Lots of things I didn‘t know, and quite a few insights into Royal protocol. I‘m not sure how much the truth was blurred or twisted but it was an enjoyable read nonetheless.

Prince Harry really opened up about how his mother‘s death and its aftermath has traumatized him. I wish I knew a little less about his conflicts with the rest of the Royal Family. Some of it was uncomfortable to hear, like he was over-sharing. But I LOVED the stories about Meghan and their life together, and his memories of Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth. It was well-written and entertaining, and I was super into every minute of this listen.

Okay, this is a little embarrassing but this is my favorite pick for January. Not going to be a classic, but this book fascinated and entertained me, so there you go.

Dang, the crazy layoff situation at work and the hectic week that followed meant I didnt have time to listen to this before it was due. So I'm back at the bottom of the list. 3,076th in line to be exact 🤦🏽‍♀️

“It was merely one man‘s self-justifying, self-centering version of events.” Umm, my first thought was how similar that sounds to what I‘m currently reading…🤔😕😒🤴

Well, I fell for the hype which was massive. I wish I had been spared from Spare by Prince Harry… I do feel for him losing his mother so tragically 💔 yes, the paparazzi are awful and relentless, but he‘s a grown man and shouldn‘t be whining so much. He comes across as bitter and jealous of his brother. 🤷🏻‍♀️He couldn‘t remember key dates and the Xbox wasn‘t released until 2001… just my #unpopularopinion…

Not sure how I feel about this book.

So, I‘m not a fan of the British royal family which means I walked into this book with only headline knowledge.

Harry starts at the very beginning. He describes idyllic castle country life before it shatters with the loss of Princess Diana. The remaining pages are an overly detailed explanation of his life experiences as he rages about the constant slander published by the UK press. He was understandably traumatized by the public loss of his mom.

I fear I'm going to be in the minority here on this but I did not finish. I bailed. 😬 I gave it a valiant try - I did. As someone who lost a parent as a kid, I empathize with his grief, especially him not being allowed to grieve. But the rest was just...dare I say boring? 😬 I LOVE to read about the Royal family, especially the history. But this...I just couldn't stick with this one.

Motivation to finish this book today!! Coconut 🥥 cake 🎂

Finishing up with Harry… finally getting to the part where he meets Meghan… it‘s been a long ride.

Oh, I just want to give Harry a big hug! Meghan too. I didn‘t know the full extent of what Harry has had to endure, and it‘s heartbreaking and infuriating that he‘s been silenced by and unsupported by his family for his entire life. I hope he and Meghan can live out their lives in happiness.

I did audio, I drive soooo much. To be a Royal is to be a bird in a gilded cage.Of course everyone that remembers the 2 princes walking behind their mothers coffin feel a heavy sadness.Harry was hounded by the same “paps” that hound the entire family, & sometimes Harry‘s naïve indiscretions were spun out of control.Still between his military service, good works in Africa ,& finding Meghan, he‘s done his best to have an authentic life.

I don‘t know if I have much to add about this. It was fine. Large stretches were repetitive. (Press is bad. Press is evil. I hate the press.) The parts about his military service were interesting, and I couldn‘t help but appreciate the juicy bits, which I think he‘ll regret. But I‘m once again reminded of two things: I don‘t really love celebrity memoirs and even if you‘re famous, 40 is premature to write a 16 hour/400+ page one. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I watched Harry and Meghan between Christmas and New Years Eve, and then read this a couple days after it came out. I listened to the audiobook in just a few days. It was so interesting, and I‘ve never been someone who follows the royals‘ stories. He‘s my age, which makes it feel all the more surreal to me.

Interesting but very long.

I neither loved nor hated this. It‘s definitely not the worst memoir I‘ve ever listened to. Prince Harry‘s experiences with the British Press are both heartbreaking and infuriating and the fact that the Palace is complicit makes me ill. On the other hand, I felt this lagged in places (was all of the time spent on the frostbitten penis really necessary?) and there is a bit of the petulant younger brother in some of the family stories.

Carrying on with this one… I‘m determined to finish it in the next 2 days even though I‘m working 🙌🏻📚

This just left me feeling sad. I was angry through many of the pages, but in the end, I'm just sad. For Harry. But also for his entire family. He seems like he's still a lost boy, stalled at 12 years old. No one understands him (except Meghan), but he doesn't bother to understand anyone else either. #3-2023

This journey was beautiful and wonderful. It was full of life, love, happiness and heartbreak. Clearly Harry feels very betrayed by his family, especially his father and brother. I‘m open to either or both of their sides of the stories, but from the sounds of it and from the action (or inaction really) volumes have already been spoken. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

Autobiographies are not my thing. But my husband bought this & it showed up in our shared library, so I read it. It‘s quite interesting and eye opening. Not the best writing, but heartfelt memories. Obviously the book will help find his life, but I also felt he came across as truthful. Really lowered the respect I have for other royal family members. I‘m glad they did what they did to stay safe and take care of themselves.

🎧 1-21-23 || This felt like a bit of an over-share but what was I expecting? I‘m now most interested in the Pulitzer winning ghostwriter JR Moehringer, and after a bit more research on *him*, I want to read his other books including his own autobiography, The Tender Bar.

Ignore the backdrop of palace grounds & you can hear dreadful music that‘s familiar to many. The Spare. The Plan B. The Extra. You are not enough. You were born not enough. Play the game and know your place. For sure people have it worse than Harry, but there‘s power in the universal story of the underdog. Anyhow a B actress and a palace misfit meet and the shoe fits. We never really believed things would be happy FORever after, did we?

Well it took me a few days (was working) but I have finally finished this. I will say it saddens me just how much and how seriously the loss of his mother affected him. I‘m also sad to realize that it appears no one paid attention to his spiral when it came to Diana. I wanted to go back in time and hug the little 9 year old he‘d been. That was my take away from this read.

Ok… I could have done without knowing all the details of his frostbite 😩😳 iyktyk!!

Unpopular opinion. I thought it was kind of boring. I found the Oprah interview more eye-opening.

I generally don't care much for the royal family, but still checked this out from the library the day it came out! It was interesting to hear Harry tell his story (keeping in mind that there's more than one side to every story!), and it's obvious how much his mother's death traumatized him.

This book made me cry, laugh out loud, gasp, clench my fist in anger and frustration, and swoon. It has confirmed many things I long believed and showed me that things were even worse than I could‘ve ever imagined. This is the story of a man who took control of his life, who stood up for the love of his life and their children. Many others have tried to tell his story. Prince Harry has finally taken control of the narrative. Bravo! #IYKYK 👀😉

There once was a little boy who suffered the worst, most unimaginable tragedy and then had to find his way with little support and lots of media attention. It‘s a complicated family, in a complicated era and Harry is just one of them trying to find his way and do what he feels is right. Worth reading.

Lots of revelations, just like you would expect. Some things I suspected were confirmed. I wish there was a bit more about Megan… but for those of us who are married interracially this hits close to home. More so than marriage, he covered a lot of events in his life.

Hopefully there is some resolution for him 😞💔

You can‘t read 100 books a year and have them all be high brow. It‘s clear that Harry has PTSD from his mother‘s death, the constant harassment of the press, and living in a gilded cage. Parts were well written, while others were juvenile, and he admits not being literary. Engaging? Yes. Plenty to analyze? Yes. Snippets of the other royals? Yes. Drama? Yes. Made me a better person? Nope. Do I regret it? Not in the slightest.

I‘ve been listening exclusively on my work commute so it‘s taking me a little longer than some to finish. It‘s so sad how he was very clearly traumatized by every aspect of his mother‘s death.

The books seems to be a very extended version of the Netflix documentary; it reads like the confession of a man who feels like he never got the opportunity to tell his side of the story and of a child who never really properly healed from the trauma of his mother's death. He sounds like a sensitive person who tried to change a system which has operated by strict rules for hundreds of years instead of adjusting to it and maybe was right not to...

I was incredibly struck by how relatable this memoir was for me. Harry's struggle with his familial relationships and with finding his place in the family as well as in the world at large. This book chronicles his time as a young man who is forever changed by the tragic loss of his mother, to his ups and downs as an adolescent, to his pivotal time in the armed forces, serving his country and finding his passion for service.
