FROM THE SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE SALT PATH AND THE WILD SILENCE Pre-order the latest book from global bestselling author Raynor Winn, and follow her journey across Great Britain exploring our relationship to the land, and to each other _________________ We're a long way from 'nearly there', the path winds higher and higher, until it almost disappears. . . As the fracture lines between nations grow ever wider, how do we relate to each other, to the land on which we live and the world around us? Are we united enough to see protection of the natural environment as a priority? These are the questions Raynor asks herself as she embarks on her most ambitious walk to date with her husband Moth - from the dramatic beauty of the Cape Wrath Trail in the north-west corner of Scotland, to the familiar territory of the South-west Coast Path. Chronicling her journey across Great Britain with trademark luminous, exquisite prose, Raynor maps not only the physical terrain, but also captures the collective consciousness of a country facing an uncertain path ahead. _________________

Another series I'm reading out of order: I've yet to read the second one. This is one of those books that has me in awe of "ordinary" individuals and in despair at the human race as a whole. Mercifully, the book lands firmly on the side of hope.
RW is not religious but I was reminded of something Mother Teresa said about knowing God would never give her bigger challenges than she was able to bear: "but sometimes I wish He didn't trust me so much".

What a cover.
O adored Salt Path, wasn't as keen on her second then ravished this one! It felt like she was back to writing about their journey and the natural paths and ways they walked. I liked her historical and political references, especially when comparing Scotland with England.

AmyG I was just thinking what a lovely cover. 4mo

This is definitely my favourite of the three books. I think Raynor Winn has really honed her writing, balancing wildlife musings with humour and drama. I want to get my walking boots on and get out into the wild.

Cuilin Fabulous. It‘s on my TBR. 11mo

Nicolapollard I enjoyed the easy prose but the salt path was the brilliance; this is much the same without the originality. Sorry raynor. 1y

This might be my favorite of her three books. You‘d think this book is about the 1,000miles they walked from Scotland to Cornwall but it is truly about so much more. What I will say is that “hope” is everything.

Christine What a great cover! ❤️ 2y
