In Bethnal Green the library was destroyed on the first night of the Blitz and the Head Librarian is killed. Clara is the head of the library built in the Tube station. CatLass007 interviewed 100 librarians in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the 1922 opening of the Bethnal Green Library. The quotes from these librarians that open each chapter are bittersweet to me. In England there is a statute that requires free libraries to be opened.
