A dystopic look at what happens to one American town when all the fossil fuels run out... Civilization has just run out. It's the future - the very near future - and the fossil fuels are running out. No gas. No oil. Which means no driving. No heat. Supermarkets are empty. Malls have shut down. Life has just become more local than we ever knew it could be. Nobody expected the end to come this fast. And in the small town of Sage Valley, decisions that once seemed easy are quickly becoming matters of life and death. There is hope - there has to be hope - but there are also sacrifices that need to be made, and a society that needs to be rethought. Niki, Tom, and Gwen may find what they need to survive. But their lives are never going to be the same again.

Mehso-so

Concept was interesting and not far from being a possibility. One day the world realizes their estimate of fossil fuel reserves was off and they are running out far sooner than they thought they would, what happens to the world?

Interesting but it‘s a really short book and doesn‘t explore it very well and I just really didn‘t get time to care for any of the characters.

Is there anything sadder?

I'm trying to rearrange my home office so my desk looks out of the window, instead of at a wall. So I've had to empty these bookcases to move them. Soon they will be back to their former glory. Maybe even better if I can go full colour sorted 🌈

ElishaLovesBooks Good luck! I‘m sure it will be worth it! 5y
TrishB It‘s not sad - it‘s potential 😁 5y
squirrelbrain It‘s exciting! Can I come and help?! (Says obsessive sorting-squirrel!) 🐿 5y
Oryx @squirrelbrain Yes! I'll be in charge of making the tea, and you can sort 😃 5y

This is the first time this page has been completely empty since I joined netgalley!!!

Next — Reading down my shelf!!!!

Moray_Reads I'm cheering you on while I try to do the same, your ahead of me with the requesting been though 😂 5y
the_hibernator You've just decided to stop requesting books? Or you'll read the ones you have and then start requesting again? 5y
LibrarianRyan If only mine looked like that. 5y

BookwormM I am trying to do the same 👍👍 5y
Well-ReadNeck @the_hibernator Not requesting while I read down my list. Not sure about afterwards. I want to read down my backlist TBR some. I‘ll probably request, just be more judicious. 5y
the_hibernator I'm a bit behind due to my injudicious requests of the past. My goal is to read doen that list, and have one nonfiction and one fiction ARC per month after that. And by "month," I mean publication date. 5y

Look who has a project next time we come to the park! They just installed this #LFL, but apparently didn‘t budget to fill it! It looks so forlorn here. No worries. We‘ve got it covered next time!

saresmoore Ooh, my favorite kind of challenge! 6y
Mitch Yeah. I love these. There‘s 2 near us and I love seeing what people leave! 6y

The idea for this book was so amazing I knew I would be able to read it in just on sitting. The killer for me on this book was the childish characters they were all so petty and only cared about themselves.
