Wrong Kind of Girl (Sweet Valley High #10)
Wrong Kind of Girl (Sweet Valley High #10) | Francine Pascal
8 posts | 12 read
She's the wrong kind of girl... Jessica Wakefield knows that "Easy Annie" is bad for the Sweet Valley High cheering squad. Annie Whitman may have the looks, talent, and spirit to be a cheerleader, but she also has the worst reputation in school. She goes out with a different boy every night, and Jessica isn't about to sully her squad's image by letting Annie on the team. But Elizabeth, Jessica's twin, knows that there is more to Annie than just her reputation. But can she change her sister's mind before Jessica shatters Annie's dreams? The #SVH cheerleading squad has two openings & while Jessica‘s certain Cara Walker will get her spot back (she & Lila were kicked off by turning the sprinklers on the Palisades High cheerleaders), she‘s equally determined that “Easy” Annie Whitman will not make the cut— even if her tryouts are the best! Liz has been tutoring the sophomore who seems clueless to the chatter about her dating life (she innocently brags about two dates in one night!)⬇️

TorieStorieS Jessica threatens to quit if Annie makes the squad… but Annie is so heartbroken to not make it, that she purposely overdoses on pills. Team manager Ricky Capaldo‘s own crush on Annie leads him to save her life! Jessica, overcome with guilt, guarantees that Annie will be on the squad if she regains consciousness, which she does. Even Annie‘s model mother promises to pay more attention to her daughter. Liz is at her saintly best throughout. 4d
Erinreadsthebooks Liz is always at her saintly best 😂😇 3d
JenlovesJT47 I feel so bad for Annie! Jess was truly awful in the first 10 books or so! 3d
TorieStorieS @JenlovesJT47 I suppose this gives Jessica some character growth over the series— that and all the dead boyfriends she accumulates! 🤣 Though Annie is really treated terribly… plus I had forgotten all about her coma! I know I had read it before, but hadn‘t remembered much! 3d

2✨ This was definitely not my favorite. It was very repetitive and dull. The only blood pumping moment was the last maybe 3 chapters. This plot was believable, but pretty extreme for the situation. Plus recovery was really very fast. #SeriesLove

Getting on the cheerleading squad is a matter of life and death..literally.
Kindle Unlimited has the Sweet Valleys and I'm sucked in to the ridiculous! 😂 Yet, I loved these books when I was younger and I can't help but reread. 🤘

Susannah Jessica Wakefield was a menace to society! 🤣 Also, is it me, or is Annie Whitman a dead ringer for mid-Eighties Courteney Cox?? 7y
Rachbb3 @Susannah Yes she does!! 😂 7y

Ya'll I fell down the SVH rabbit hole when I decided to use it for my twin prompt. Still amazing and awful. I forgot how big a psychopath jesssica is and what a wimp Elizabeth is. Hahaha not at all good but a rocking good time. svh 1-11 read so far... waiting for regina to overdose...

Vertabrain Omg...I lived for these books in Middle School a hundred years ago!! 7y

#FierceFeb Day 17: This is the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw the #Cheerleader prompt for today. This gives me such a nostalgic vibe, truth be told. I also wrote about my reflections on re-reading SVH in my late 30s back in 2015 here: https://gatheringbooks.org/2015/02/28/revisiting-sweet-valley-high-in-my-late-30...

TommieMarie74 I loved your blog post. I too devoured these books when I was young. They felt “racy” to me, but also familiar. I related a lot to Liz and her need to be the “good daughter” while sometimes wishing she (and I) could be a little like Jessica. Such a great series. Your post here and your blog brought up some great memories. ❤️😊 8y
batsy Yay, we picked the same 😁❤️ Yup, it's all nostalgia for me too! Gonna read your blog post! 8y

#badhairday - may I just say, I am thoroughly enjoying reading through the Sweet Valley High series? These books are so ridiculously bad but oh so amazing at the same time. Once I hit book 12, almost all of the series is now available on kindle unlimited. I have a feeling I'm going to crush my Goodreads goal very early this year! #sweetvalley #SVH #twins

awishman Loved these growing up. Are a Jessica or an Elizabeth? 9y
JenlovesJT47 @awishman Jessica has always been my favorite, even though she's an evil shrew in the earlier books. Things are more balanced in the later books. Never understood why they had such extremes in the beginning with Jess being a psycho and Liz being a saint 😈😇 9y
awishman I was Elizabeth, but I wanted to be Jessica! 9y

JenlovesJT47 @awishman I hear ya! I've always been more like Liz, maybe that's why Jessica is my favorite! 9y
TorieStorieS I still can‘t get over the fact that Courtney Cox was the model for Annie on this cover! It made re-reading this extra fun! 5d
JenlovesJT47 @TorieStorieS I know!! Makes it easy to picture what she looks like when you‘re reading. I still swear that the guy on the inside cover of A Night To Remember who is supposed to be Sam is the actor Craig Shaffer from Some Kind of Wonderful (a great movie if you haven‘t seen it!). It has to be him. 5d
TorieStorieS Oh I haven‘t seen that movie in so long!! But I think you‘re right!! I think I saw someone else with an idea of who Lila was based off of too but now I can‘t remember! 5d
JenlovesJT47 @TorieStorieS I could have sworn I saw the actress who modeled for Lila on something, let me see if I can find it. The model for Bill Chase was an athlete or something like that. Down the rabbit hole I go! 5d
TorieStorieS Oooo!! Thanks!! Good luck!! 5d
JenlovesJT47 @TorieStorieS actually I just looked it up and Bill Chase was on The Karate Kid from 1984. https://snarkvalley.wordpress.com/2021/02/08/yessss-original-sweet-valley-cover-... 5d
TorieStorieS Thank you!! So much fun!!! 4d
