1920s New York City. Does anything else need to be said? I really enjoyed this historical fiction work about a midwestern girl trying to become one of Ziegfeld‘s Follies.

A fun, women's fiction romp of the roaring twenties. Aspiring singer and dancer, Olivia McCorwick, leaves her small town in Minneapolis to become a Ziegfield Follies star in New York City. What follows is a world of glamour, fame, romance and heartache in this historical fiction soap that would appeal to fans of Beatriz William's and Fiona Davis.

Happy Publishing Day to The Show Girl! I took part in a blogging party for the book about Olive McCormick, a young Minnesota woman who moves to NYC with big dreams of stardom in Ziegfeld‘s Follies in 1927. It‘s not an easy life for Olive (now Olive Shine) & the book gives an glimpse into the life & loves of a show girl in that era. I had to keep reminding g myself how young Olive was because she frustrated me with her choices but I enjoyed the ⬇️

When I googled 1920s recipes, I found olives in some of them & it was a perfect nod to her. My review and recipe can be found here: http://kahakaikitchen.blogspot.com/2021/08/olive-cream-cheese-stuffed-celery-for... 3y

Another soft pick. This is the story of a small town girl who hits it big as a Ziegfields show girl in 1920s NYC. I think this era is fascinating and Harrison did a great job of bringing it to life, but I had a hard time liking the narrator. She causes most of her own problems but says she earned her success with “hard work.” To me it seemed like all her successes were nothing more than good luck and being in the right place at the right time.
