Funny story: This was actually my June draw for #roll100 - but when I got the book I thought “I could read the first few pages now“... and the first few pages turned into the whole book. This one came to be my favourite Carofiglio so far. It's a heartwarming father-and-son-story, that goes deeper with every page. Simply beautiful. Touching. Caring. Moving.

Of course there'll be another book for June.

I enjoyed this slow and meandering novel. I suppose it‘s a soft pick for me. TW for sexual content (porn and prostitution) and a short description of police brutality.

Currently reading this one. I‘m reading for this weekend‘s #20in4 #readathon, which I‘ve been taking part in, even though I forgot to make a post about it until now. My goal was 20 chapters, but I think I‘ve done closer to 60 chapters (across multiple books). Hope everyone‘s having a great weekend!! :)

Wow wow wow 🤩. The story, the writing 🥰. A father and son find themselves in Marseille for 48hours. With nothing to do they manage to “find each other”. What a beautiful story.

Verisimilitude. What every author is after. This novel about a son getting to know his father on a 2 day all - nighter is fully engaging. It felt so real that I kept forgetting that it wasn‘t a memoir. All parents crave this revelatory 48 hours to get to know our kids. It‘s done gently via the son‘s nostalgic look back. And then there‘s all the atmospheric walking day & night through a seedy and romantic Marseille which somehow is refreshing.

I enjoyed this book. It was a very fast read, only 180 pages. A father and son find themselves in an unusual circumstance where they need to stay awake for two days straight. They both learn a lot about each other during this time. Up until then, they had hardly spoken at all. This book was translated from Italian to English. Much of the story took place in France. Thank you Goodreads, for the ARC!
