#PoetryMatters Day 8: #Heart
#FebruaryFeels Day 4: This #BookWithHeartInTitle is an illustrated/illuminated version of ee cummings poem. There is that play in the words of literally carrying a being inside one‘s self when one conceives that was captured perfectly in the artist‘s visual narrative – up to that time when the mother gives birth and nurtures the child. Gorgeous interpretation of cummings‘s famous poem as a reflection on motherhood. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
One of my favorite poems. Although I know it is read in a romantic connotation, I have never related to it as much as I did after I lost a baby. The comforting thought of i carry your heart is one I repeated to myself. I love that this is available as a picture book. My slight critique is that I wish it had been a book of the entire poem. The art is lovely and there is nothing better than reading my son to sleep and his telling me this is pretty.
I've read this one with the wee lad quite a few times and yet I still cannot get through it without springing a tear or two. This is one that I plan to hold onto for a long time and hope that he understands the sentiment when I pass it down to him someday.
