So glad I read Engberg‘s next in the Kørner & Werner series. Here she‘s given us a more complicated plot that includes her familiar characters. Gone are the somewhat plodding tone and too early reveal of The Tenant, and there are twists aplenty. The plot includes fascinating details about the treatment of mentally ill teens and how it can go terribly wrong when profit and greed supplant patient needs. Looking forward to the next in the series.

This Danish crime novel was a bit slow to start for me. Once I got used to the multiple POVs and engaged in the story more, I did enjoy it. Part of a series, but I didn‘t feel I was missing anything by not having read the first one. I‘m not sure how I feel about investigator Jeppe Kroner, but did love his partner Anette Werner. Her adjustment to motherhood and maternity leave was relatable. Eccentric characters and a strong mystery. 3⭐️

In the last 2 weeks my divorce was finalized and I began the process of refinancing my home just in time for an interest rate hike. The last 8 months have been difficult, but I made it in part due to my love of reading and this wonderful community. After a very hard day of coming to terms with my new mortgage payment, I needed a beer, a book, and some sun. Thank you, Littens. Without even knowing it, you have been a source of great comfort. ❤️

I enjoyed the mystery, but I found it a bit predictable and didn‘t really understand why some of the storylines were there.

BookBosomed1 @Kappadeemom Yes! My apologies for the delay in posting. I am doing an emergency road trip so the last week has been a bit bonkers. I did get it right before I left :) 2y

I am absolutely loving this series. This is Book 2 in the Kørner and Werner series. Set in Copenhagen, a body is found in fountain, drained of all its blood 🤯 Fast-paced with a compelling mystery to solve. Definitely check this series out! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Another mystery featuring Detectives Korner and Werner. The depth of the characters adds a much needed human touch to this series. Dead bodies in fountains, exsanguination, too many suspects. Will Korner solve this in time? Will Werner get herself together? A good, solid entry for this series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Mini book haul from this weekend

Avanders Hiya lady - your #FFFS package was expected to arrive yesterday — your sender thinks they may have forgotten to put the hashtag on the package, so I wanted to give you the heads up ☺️🧡🍁🍂 3y

A friend won this from Goodreads and let me borrow it. It was just okay to me. Seemed like a lot was going on, but that could just be me, bc I have been sick.

UPS pulls up and I‘m trying to remember if I ordered anything.... nope, I didn‘t! My #goodreadsgiveaway is here!!! I thought it was going to be a paperback. I didn‘t realize that it was a hardback! 🤓🤗

Mitch Love surprise - and guilt free! 3y
robinb Hi, Elisabeth! 😊 I just saw this one pop up on a good thriller list. Did you get to this one yet? Any good? I think it‘s part of a series maybe? 1y
eanderson @robinb I haven‘t read it yet…. Lol! Shocking. It is apart of a series. I‘m starting to learn I‘m not a big fan of Nordic Noir. I read the first one but didn‘t get to this one. Maybe I should. 🙃 1y
robinb @eanderson Actually that might be me. I‘m more of an English-countryside manor-whodunit type. 😄 1y

While I don‘t think this is quite as strong as The Tenant, this is still a great follow up! I enjoyed the unique murder weapon, the red herrings, and the conversations about mental health. Check out my full review: https://amysbookreviews.com/2021/01/12/the-butterfly-house-by-katrine-engberg-re...

Day 3 - #12Booksof2020 #ShareTheLove @Andrew65

This is the 2nd book in the Detectives Jeppe Kørner and Anette Werner series which takes place in Copenhagen Denmark. A paperboy discovers the naked body of a dead woman, lying in a fountain. All the blood has been drained from her body. Another body is found again lying in water with the same MO. Are the murders related to The Butterfly House, a psychiatric hospital for juveniles?

EadieB Jeppe is recovering from a painful divorce and Anette is on maternity leave. Anette is at home bored and decides to do a little freelance sleuthing. After a series of twists and turns, she ends up helping Jeppe solve the murders. The book kept me guessing all the way through and the ending proved to be a surprise to me. I look forward to reading the 3rd book in the series and highly recommend this one. 3y

A Nordic noir set in Copenhagen, where dead bodies are found in public fountains all over town, killed with a scary medical weapon being used to drain blood from the victims. And then my son creeps up behind me while I‘m reading and grabs me. Not cool, kiddo. Not cool.
