These are the stories of some of the saints mentioned in the world of Grisha. Some stories are so interesting, others for me were forced, no sense at all, but this is an unpopular opinion. The illustrations were amazing, beautiful, stunning. The book per se is so pretty, so “elegant” if I can use that adjective to describe it☺️It is well done, a high quality book. For that reason I‘m going to assigned a pick 3⭐️But the content for me was so-so

I did like this but don‘t consider it a must read for anyone. If you enjoy the GrishaVerse books and want a little more on the saints they mention then there you go. Artwork is stunning of course! Some stories were better than others. #bookspinbingo

The illustrations in this alone get 5 stars! They are so freaking gorgeous and I can stare at them all day. The stories come in at a 4 star only because there was a few I would have loved more if they were longer. Overall they are all fantastic quick stories & I love how Bardugo expands on her world building by telling us about the Saints she created for her world. Do know some of the stories have a bit of a gruesome touch but not over the top.

Clare-Dragonfly I have this on ebook hold but if the illustrations are good maybe I should get it in paper. 🤔 3y
Sweetkokoro @Clare-Dragonfly I am more than willing to post a few shots of the illustrations if you would like. But personally I say it‘s worth the money the illustrations alone are beautiful but I am huge art nerd so I could be bias, but I just love looking at them. 3y
Clare-Dragonfly I‘m unlikely to buy it either way—I just prefer to read ebooks. But I‘ll get paper books if there‘s a reason to! 3y
Sweetkokoro @Clare-Dragonfly That makes sense, for me personally I think it‘s worth it but like I said I love art. But I know for some the story has to be worth it too. Either way I hope you enjoy it! I‘ll probably post a few shots of the art anyways because I can‘t get over how gorgeous it all is and I want others to see it haha. 3y

If you didn‘t watch my YouTube video yesterday, I am taking part in Medieval-a-thon that‘s hosted by Holly Hearts Books on YouTube. You pick a profession and read books based on the prompts for that profession! I picked Blacksmith (because I seriously love blacksmiths) so this is my TBR for the readathon! It‘s run time is January 10th to February 10th!

Chrissyreadit @Gissy this sounds similar to OWLs. It made me think of you. 3y

Mehso-so

For anyone wanting to explore the world of Grisha, this a great summary of the saints. I was hoping for more description of the world setting as I prepare to read the trilogy and watch the Netflix series.

P.S. The artwork is gorgeous

4/5

I really enjoyed this book as an expansion of the Grishaverse world. Learning about the history of the saints was fascinating, if frequently tragic. The chapter about Alina was super interesting to imagine how Alina is continuing to help children in Ravka, and the chapter about the Darkling gave context to why some might view him as a saint despite the harm he did.

Also was able to snag (with the help of my sister cuz times are rough) both the normal copy and the Illumicrate copy of The Lives of Saints by Leigh Bardugo, she without a doubt is a YA author I will always buy, I enjoy her writing very much. I‘m hoping to read this next month since its not very long and just a collection of stories about the Saints in the Grishaworld, which is super intriguing to me!

Sweetkokoro I will say the print quality is WAY better on the normal version then that Illumicrate version, they are bound differently and the printing is better aligned on the normal copy. The Illumicrate version is only special really for the added dust jacket and honestly they could have just sold it separately. 4y
Sweetkokoro Also just realized the naked book of the Illumicrate version is different from the normal one and frankly the Normal one is way better. Overall, the Illumicrate version was not worth the money haha. 4y
Sweetkokoro Another difference I noticed the the border, Title and author name are Embedded into the cover on the normal version while the Illumicrate one is all printed on top which means it can scratch off if not careful. 4y

Book Haul! Plus a little extra. Good thing it‘s going to be a cold, rainy, possibly even snowy weekend... I‘m going nowhere.

I‘m so glad we finally have this book! It was so interesting to read the stories of the saints. My favorite was Sankt Lukin the Logical, Patron Saint of Politicians. It cracked me up. And also, these illustrations are insanely gorgeous?! 😍
