I liked the idea of this offshoot series featuring Tessa Leoni, from one of the previous DD Warren books, but I wish she were featured more heavily. Overall I struggled to connect with the kidnapped characters for some reason. Well constructed and tense as per usual, but I suspected the ending early on and (without being able to say too much without spoilers) the twist, while crazy, kind of irked me when I was right. 3.5⭐️

Lisa Gardner is one of my go to thriller authors. Even if I have a good guess at what‘s happening the characters and story are so good and compelling that I keep going and am super engaged. I put two other reads aside this weekend to finish this because I NEEDED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS.

A fun, fast moving novel with a few fun twists. Who was behind the kidnapping of the wealthy contractor & his family & why?

I can't even begin to explain how much I loved this book. I was hooked from page one. It has everything a thriller could have and more. Kiddnapping. Addiction. Infidelity. Pregnancy. Betrayal. Hope. A budding flame. And more betrayal. I gasped. I cried. I had hope, and then my hope died.

This afternoons agenda: patiently wait for my dinner that's filling the house with a delicious aroma(lemon pepper chicken in the slow cooker) while lightly munching on chips & salsa. And of course, getting some much needed reading time in before my Cowboys game.

What is your plan for this afternoon & evening?

Ye_Mighty_Andy_Spare I'm swashing some buckles (or possibly buckling some swashes) as I hit the high seas in this gloriously entertaining doorstop of a book 6y
cassareada @Ye_Mighty_Andy_Spare Holy smokes that is a thick one. How far into the book are you? 6y
Ye_Mighty_Andy_Spare Just started. It's the second volume in a trilogy and technically it's two books together. My arms wish they'd been printed individually 😀 6y

The Beverly Library was having a huge book sale so the husband and I took the kids. They got a few books, he got a book or two and I got these. We filled up a bag for only $3.00! We plan on going next time on the first day to see what treasures we can find! #bookhaul

Caffeinated_Reader Bastard!!!!! Lol this book made me scream & hurl it across the room so many times during the last 4 chapters I can‘t even tell you. Ugh what a story. I thought I had the ending figured out but nope, once again Lisa Gardner zigged when I thought she would zag 😄 6y

Went to Barnes & Noble b/c I had a 15% off coupon for ONE book. Ended up talking to an employee there and then this happened. So much for my book buying ban. 🤦‍♀️

DGRachel Been there. 😂 7y
mjdowens That just happened to me not too long ago. Not sure what kind of book selling cult those people go through, but it worked on me😂😂 7y
Kristy_K @mjdowens Lol! They most definitely get some kind of specialized training (not that it takes much to get me to buy a book 😁). 7y
